One star is too many stars.
Firstly, it took 25 minutes for the staff to take our orders. We had made it clear that we were ready (stacked menus and made eye contact), but it still took too long. The staff were very unfriendly and not welcoming. We ordered one large Peroni and a bottle of water between us, but they only gave us one glass each, and we had to ask for another two glasses. The waiter put the glasses on the table with a bad attitude.
We ordered a pasta with potatoes and cheese, and a Margherita pizza.
The pasta was dry and contained massive pieces of thick bacon rind, the menu did not include an ingredient list, so it is lucky that we are not vegetarians. There were also only 2 pieces of potato in the dish.
The pizza was oily and slimy. The dough was undercooked and burnt at the same time - thick and chewy. Completely inedible.
The pizza, pasta, Peroni, water and cover charge came to 22 euros. Unfair price for disgusting food, we ate about half of each dish before deciding to leave. I resent paying so much money for such terrible service and terrible food.
A woman cleared our plates and asked if it was not good, we said no. She had a terrible attitude and took our plates with no apology.
We then went round the corner to Peppino Trattoria, which was incredible.
PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE....
Read moreTo be honest I came here after recommendations from people I trust. Those same people told me about Antica Da Carmine which I have returned to 4 times. Antica Capri was full the first time I tried to come, but I managed to get a table the second time. The waiter was friendly and accomodating and recommended me a starter and a main.
Starting with the starter: Mussels with breadcrumbs on top. To be 100% honest it was a rather flat dish, not really exciting and the breadcrumbs were soggy and gritty.
Main course, their famous seafood pasta in a bowl with beans covered in dough. The waiter proudly cut the top off the dish and whistled as he walked away. Let me get this straight out, it was decent, but far from great. You know when seafood is too fishy? It sounds idiotic since it IS seafood, but there is that line where it becomes offputting because its too pungent. Well, the addition of beans and clams-mussels is definitely not one i'll go for again, perhaps this truly is a local delicacy and they crave it like I crave ramen but I'm on the outside here... I definitely won't say the dish tasted bad, it was just not to my taste.
I'll skip this in the future and head back to Carmine where every dish I've tried has been exemplary. Perhaps Antica Capri used to be good and lost their way?...
Read moreRecommended by friends of ours we tried this restaurant for dinner. Arriving at the restaurant the doors were locked while people were eating inside. Finally we were allowed inside and got a table. Not the greatest customer experience to start with....
Back in the days, this restaurant used to be one of the best spots in Napels. The wall of fame proudly presents their trophy’s of celebrity clients that visited the restaurant.
To be very honest, gone are those days at Capri. The service is quite terrible, whatever you want, whatever you need... You will need to call the waiters. Salt, pepper, olive oil or vinegar is not on any table but you need it to add some taste to your food.
Food lacked taste in general! -The cornamusa with prosciutto and mozzarella is a real joke for 10 euro pizza Margherita had no taste at all, being in Naples?!?! -meatballs napolitan are no original as they are boiled, no pineputs not raisin... -coteletta scalalopina 🤣 no comment la carbonara was at least tasty! the seafood pot in pizza dough looks nice but is way too fishy in taste. Housewine for 8 euro a bottle is a winner!
For us, quite a disappointment even if their value for money is excellent in general, the service and food lacks taste...
