STEER CLEAR! I give people the benefit of the doubt, I had no problems with anywhere else we travelled in Europe. This place was a special place, especially bad. We came here after eating dinner at a pizza restaurant, which was wonderful. We just wanted to pick up a few pastries for dessert. It was a confusing process. I understand Italian, and nobody would tell me what to do. Eventually we just ended up pointing at what we wanted, and then they just pointed at the cashier to go pay for it, I don't think the guy behind the counter ever said a word to me. We went to pay and the guy wouldn't let me pay with a card, he pretended he didn't have a card reader because apparently 6 euros was too little an amount to charge on a card (okay, I understand you have to pay Visa/Mastercard for card transactions, but other places we went had signs for minimum 4 euro charges if you were going to use a card). The cashier just shook his head at me, didn't tell me I had to buy more, or pay cash, there was no communication. So I just stood there for a little while until apparently he got annoyed, ripped the card reader out from underneath his legs, and yelled at me to give him my card. He then proceeded to curse in Italian as he animatedly completed the transaction with my card. I didn't realize until the next day, when we were in a different city, that he had kept my card (I didn't notice he kept it because of the things we were carrying and how busy it was there). So... horrible customer service, and I would have given them a better rating if the pastries were good, they weren't... They were the worst pastries we had on our trip, we had to toss them. Keep away from this place, there are so many other places to go. It also didn't help that the area was full of trash and sketchy people. This is clearly a tourist trap, as other reviewers...
Read moreIt’s a sfogliatella paradise for eyes and for tummy. My heart belongs to this pastry, but not to the stuff. It happened that I had to stay in Naples just for one hour, not knowing much about bars around I saw SfogliateLab occasionally. As sfogliatella is my favorite Italian dessert I was surprised by the choice of fillings and toppings, shapes and colors I saw in this bar, so I really wanted to try everything.
What I didn’t find in the place is famous Southern Italian hospitality. A young lady looked so exhausted and annoyed by me , every time I was asking ‘what is it’ she was replying ‘sfogliatella’ o ‘babà’ (thank you captain Obvious ) I don’t know all the creams and all the toppings, and considering I wanted to take home a tray with several things to try, I hoped to have some friendly guidelines and advises. In the end I didn’t take as many pastries as I wanted, cause I really started to feel uncomfortable and unwanted and not for the world I want to annoy and irritate somebody at work. And so you know there was no any language problem, my...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE!! evita questo posto!! I wish I had read the reviews of this place like I usually do. Total tourist trap from the beginning. The waiter told me to sit down even tho I wanted to look at what options of pastry’s. I told him what I wanted and he obviously brought me the biggest and most expensive ones and yelled at me to pay (which I have never experienced before at a cafe let alone an Italian one!! So un italian!!) It was SO EXPENSIVE I was shocked, and SO TERRIBLE!! I couldn’t even finish the pastries because so bad and didnt want to take them with me despite how expensive they were… The cappuccino was also just bad and not enjoyable… 3 EUROS?! But most importantly was the waiters attitude, he basically yelled at me.
