We came back after a memorable experience back in 2016 and Il Liberty didn’t disappoint!
Rather than riding the way-too-common wave of “wannabe fine dining”, they still focus on traditional, authentic, and local ingredients and flavors in a genuinely Sicilian location a few steps away from the buzz of the main street of Noto.
Professional, attentive, personal, yet never intrusive service, always ready to recommend the best dishes suited for the guests (we had one gluten-intolerant person whose needs were superbly taken care of) and/or the perfect wine pairing (a notable Sicilian-heavy wine list from which you’d like to try everything!).
Be sure to ask for the off-menu items - when we were there, the tuna ventresca served with caponata at the side was sublime! Pasta dishes are solid, both in quantity and quality with distinct flavors that take you back to your grandma’s kitchen. The pasta with tuna, wild fennel, pine nuts, and bread crumbs reminded me of a typical “pasta con le sarde” with a twist.
Couldn’t recommend this more if you are looking for a solid authentic Sicilian meal with fresh ingredients and great value for money.
Bonus: if the weather allows, sit outside on the cozy little terrace with a handful of tables adjacent to the wall...
Read moreWe arrived at a little before 8pm and were impressed by the atmosphere - everything looked good. Our order was taken promptly and my husband’s salad and my main course arrived quickly as arranged. His salad was good and my pork hock was tender and flavourful. Our plates were cleared and we waited. . . And waited. By 9:30 my husbands tuna steak had still not arrived, the wait staff seemed disinterested in us, other tables received their food and still we waited. Finally, we caught the attention of one of the waitstaff and asked. His main course arrived within 10 minutes. The explanation? The tuna was cold and took a long time to cook! Unacceptable - even if frozen, fish thaws in minutes. It does not take 1 hr 40 minutes to cook a tuna steak. Very...
Read moreWe went at lunchtime, great experience all round. Helped us bring our pushchair upstairs, very baby/child friendly staff. They were patient with us ordering as had a baby. Admittedly it was quiet but they took the time to play peekaboo with our baby and no one objected to the noise. On top of that, the food was excellent. Started with the cheese and cold cuts plate, all local produce and comes with a brief explanation of the produce. The mortadella is exquisite and melts in the mouth. The mains were generous portions and cooked very well. The whole vibe is a 1940s underground bar. Unfortunately they can’t take tips with card, so it was a shame we couldn’t tip them. Great place,...
