Charlie — Restaurant in Orvieto

We came across Charlie’s earlier in the day and were slightly disappointed we hadn’t found this restaurant sooner. Later in the day, we arrived at another restaurant where we had reserved a table but had to walk away as we were told our family of 5 would need to sit separately. We thought we would try to get into Charlie’s… we arrived and the lovely gentleman found us a table. The atmosphere was lovely with tables well spaced between other customers, the eating area was lit by soft lighting adding to the atmosphere. Staff were warm and welcoming. Service was excellent. Visited in March with a friend, and we didn't have a reservation on a very busy Saturday night. They were so welcoming and generous. They moved around some tables and made room for us. I ordered their duck papardelle, my friend ordered the boar, they were both divine, I wish I could have had seconds! I made sure to return this summer for lunch with my family on a day trip to Orvieto. The lunch menu does not have the full Charlie Pizza menu. It is a menu for the Trattoria Delli Poggi (you can find it online; their kitchen menu), which, to my delight, had the duck on the menu. The first restaurant we tried declined since we came in 21:30 and they closed at 22:00. Thank god they did. We saw Charlie and asked politely if they are still serving… The smile and warm hospitality led us in. Stefano was an outstanding experience. The warmth, recommendations, knowledge and hospitality were exceptional. The liver pate with the sweet wine are a must. The pizzas are great and of course a Brunello Di Montalcino made our visit really exceptional. If you happen to be in Orvieto, we suggest you visit Charlie and give Stefano our warmest regards.
