Osteria dal Capo — Restaurant in Padua

This tiny, local restaurant offered me the best dining experience during my stay in Padova and that was inspite of the high expectations I had coming in. The place might be easy to miss as unlike other restaurants they don't have outdoor seating. There was a little waiting time to get seated, but otherwise the staff were very friendly, very efficient, spoke English adequately well and the place ran smoothly. Even on a regular Wednesday night, they were quite busy and yet the serving time was very reasonable for me.

I had a refreshing Aperol Spritz while waiting on my entree. The entree was a slow cooked rabbit stew. The spices in the stew were very aromatic and added just the right amount of flavor to the dish. Hi! It’s 2023 and this restaurant has RASIST EMPLOYEES!!! Something mind boggling happened to me and my mother at this restaurant. We decided to go eat there, the staff offered us a table and when one of the girls (a chubby, short-haired, brunette girl) came to bring us the menu and asked us where are we from. We answered Romania and she put the most disgusted expression ever and left right away. After not being able to translate the Italian menu and upset about her racist behavior, we decided to leave. Excellent food, some of the best we had during our travels in Italy. Gnocchi and asparagus soufflé starters and mains (beef, fresh tuna) were excellent. Small, intimate place. Felt very local. English spoken.

Make a reservation if you can! We had no reservation when we showed up and luckily they had one table left.
