The tasting menu at this restaurant is a truly unique experience - rewarding, and at times challenging. In the best way!! Chef Stefano is pushing boundaries and experimenting in the true spirit of innovation. We did the “extremis” tasting menu (8 courses plus extras)…. Highlights (look for these on the regular menu as well if you opt not to do tasting): “BBQ” risotto - imagine a risotto infused with smokiness of the grill, finished with a bright lemon zest. If you’re having trouble I don’t blame you, it’s pretty unique. But you must taste it! Grilled branzino with vegetables - PERFECTLY cooked and seasoned. One of the best bites ever. Beef tartare with asparagus and eggs - the quality of meat in Italy is just stellar and makes dishes like this superb. For those who want challenges: tomato sorbetto - when you eat this you may get confused. Actually it might’ve have been a special creation for the “extremis” course. It’s like gazpacho ice cream. The texture is amazingly smooth, you can cut thin slices with a spoon and it holds its form. BBQ pomodoro - the BBQ is a bit forward in this dish compared to the risotto, the addition of sun dried tomatoes is a nice garnish. We felt oddly compelled to keep eating it though :) All in all, chef stefano and all the team at this restaurant deserve your support! You’re not going to find traditional classics here but if you are in the mood for pushing the boundaries give it a try.

Stefano and the team at Padovanino are a step above when it comes to creating a dining experience to remember, from a cocktail and wine list to die for, inspired dishes to leaving you want more and a great ambient setting in the centre of Padova....particular culinary highlights i have had the pleasure of enjoying were a pea risotto with drops of lemon and liquorice powder on top, asparagus and beetroot cannoli and a dessert of tomato sorbet with basil and almond crunch, it's flavour a clever homage to the staple italian pasta sauce that was simply genius. Expect this place to become widely known as skills this good don't remain a secret for long, I'd be shocked if they don't receive recognition from Michelin at this rate!

We sort of just happened upon this place and honestly made a reservation without even looking at the menu. But man, am I happy we did. It was a really special (and unexpectedly great) meal! We had the Milan prix fixe menu, which featured a savory take on a crème brûlée using Parmegiano Reggiano among other unique and enticing dishes. We also got to talk to the chef/owner, Stefano, who was incredibly nice and so clearly exuded pure passion regarding his food.
