I never post reviews or come back to the same place twice when travelling, but I made an exception in both cases. Went to del Matto but couldn’t get a place without reservation (call first!), came back for dinner with reservation in following day, then again for lunch. This is a very authentic family restaurant — it feels very homey, very Italian, the owner is lots of fun, and the food is great too. I especially recommend going there for lunch. Got first and second courses plus wine for 15 euros, desert is extra but ended up costing me 2-3 euros only. The best value for money in Italy so far! Had the ragu pasta, the arrosto with potatoes, and tiramisu, all cooked to perfection and very generously served. For dinner has arrosto with polenta (cooked for 12h, I’m told) and a pear/chocolate cake. Both were also amazing. I’m definitely coming back if I’m ever in...
Read moreIt was an absolutely wonderful experience at Osteria del Matto earlier this week. We bumped into it by coincidence for a late lunch and was met with superb Italian hospitality in addition to excellent authentic food quality at very reasonable prices. The owner couple, Ivan and Eva, went above and beyond to make their guests feel as part of family while sharing their love and passion for food. We actually wished we could stay longer in Pavia to try their A La Carte dinner menu. Well, that's always something to look forward to next time we are back in...

He had a courtesy to swear in Italian all the time. I understand such things because I know those words translation. It ruined my experience with this place and I was...
