I really wanted to LOVE it here; I saw the good reviews and we walked past the place a few times and it looked lovely so I forced my husband to go here for dinner. We ordered the €5.5/100g steak and the carbonara. We waited approx. 30 minutes, when it shouldn’t have taken more than 15 minutes, the steak was good, but didn’t really exceed any expectations, but a nice steak nonetheless. The carbonara arrived with cold pork belly, it was bitter in parts because I assume it was finished off in a burnt pan, and had bits of scrambled egg in it. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because the restaurant had the integrity to take the carbonara off our bill, which we were grateful for of course, otherwise it would have been a 1 star experience. This is unfortunate because I don’t like leaving non 5 star reviews. The waiter took our feedback very well. We then asked for the bill, which didn’t come to us, however, the table next to us asked for the bill after us and got it in seconds. It was clear that the undivided attention was given to the table text to us who I assume were friends of the establishment. My husband went in himself to pay as we were tired of waiting. We are grateful for how our feedback was taken and it will hopefully be taken on board 🙏 Staff were lovely and I do hope this was...
Read moreWe picked this place on the strength of a previous review claiming it to be the best steak in Pompei.
We were a little concerned to be the first people in (we just walked in, no reservation) but the young man who seated us was very helpful and accommodating. We figured it was probably because we were eating relatively early (7.45).
We picked our dinner, and a few minutes later, were shown the fresh cut of beef we had selected to eat (Di Lorenzo filet). We were even shown the cut of beef that we would shortly be eating!
Dinner was on our table within 15 minutes, cooked to perfection - my husband likes his steak well done, I prefer mine medium rare. The beef was absolutely beautiful - so good, it just melted!
Was absolutely gutted that the tiramisu was off the menu, as that is one of my all time favourite puddings. But the steak was so good that I can't be mad!
If I ever make it back to Pompeii, this place will be my first...
Read moreThe best meal we have had sofaer on our week long trip to Rome and the single day in Pompei. My wife and I had some “buns” (burgers) and our daughter had the Guacamole. I had the pulled purk with goat blue cheese, which was out of this world. My daughters had to share her guacamole. It was equally delicious. Also freshly made and we got it in the mortar everything was mixed in. It all was delicious and there was plenty of it. The wait was s bit long, but it all made sense when we found out that everything was home made. Even the potato chips/crisps were freshly made. The place looks a bit anonymous on the pedestrian street (Via Lepanto) on the other side of the church square (Piazza Bartolo Longo) from the Pompei Scavi entrance. We were here during the shops closing hours from 2 to 4 PM, so everything was a bit still. The food however made up...
