Elisir di Positano — Restaurant in Positano

This place is terrible. Waitress are very rude and lacks professionalism. I bought a lemon ice cream as I was walking trying to cool down. Found this place and decided to give it a shot. 20 minutes passed by and no one even care to bring out the menu. When the waitress finally showed up, she asked us where did we get the ice cream. We told her that since is too hot we bought it as we were walking, we stopped by and were ready to consume. She acted very rude and told us that she cannot serve us because we bought an ice cream somewhere else. I told her that we were going to consume and to please hand us the menu but she kicked us out and said that she does not care if she lost a customer because she has many customer. I hate to do this kind of review to the wonderful town of Positano, but things like this cannot be overlook. At the end of the day tourist play a huge role for this town. So as a tourist we should be treated better. I don’t think anyone should be treated like they treated us. If management of this place ever care to read this review. We ordered 3 caprese and one Positano sandwich to go, each 8 euro for a total of 32 euro, it took 20 minutes and three people asking what we were waiting for AFTER awe already paid for them. When the sandwich’s arrived, the waiter made a comment as if he were surprised we were Italian. (I am Italian American and speak fluent and my wife is Italian born and raised) that should have been the red flag because when we opened the aluminum foil wrapped BREAD, we found two thin slices of tomatoes and two thin slices of cheese, and the Positano one thins slice of prosciutto, dry, no oil, no basil, or oregano as described in the menu. I then ordered a bottle of water listed for 3 euro and the scam master behind the register rang me up at 4 euro, I pointed out her “obvious/intentional” mistake and paid 3 euro. This place preys on tourist and the reason some places like Positano get a bad wrap for high prices. Several places do not post their prices and will up charge you based on your looks. I was wearing a baseball cap and looked VERY american. They overcharge tourist and are opportunist. Stay away...

I have never been treated as bad as I was here on my entire trip to Italy. Waited 20 minutes to be seated. Was seated, ordered drinks and asked to get some bread and butter with our drinks because we only had 30 minutes till we had to go onto our shuttle to leave (after the wait to seat we knew we wouldn’t get a full meal in time). Older lady was very condescending and rude and told us that “it was a restaurant and we had to order food in order to have bread”. After explaining the situation she rolled her eyes and walked away. We then asked the gentlemen at the desk for our bill as we were now uncomfortable with her. She overheard and said something to him. After receiving the bill we saw for; one Coca Cola and one beer it was €18. There was an extra charge for seating at the table she added to the bill (after looking up this charge it said it was for seating/linens/cover for bread we did not receive). The entirety was uncomfortable and would not recommend dealing with this money grab when there is plenty of other places...
