As expected in a tourist destination such as Positano, lunch for two, consisting of one salad, two entrees and two glasses of wine was €73.00 - and very disappointing; and it started before the meal was served. We decide to sit outdoors, the tables under a vined canopy. The maitre d' did not seat us. From his podium, he pointed to a table "Go sit there, at 15" which foolishly we did. We waited for a waiter. And waited. More than the usual slow service which is typical in many restaurants here (BTW - We live here in southern Italy. We are not tourist)Finally, a glum looking young man arrives, stands before us and doesn't say a word, pen poised to electronic order pad. We order a drink. 15 minutes later the drinks arrive. Food is ordered, the appetizer arrives, Mozzarella di bufala e pomodoro (tomatoes and Buffala mozzarella). What should be a soft, creamy, delicate ball of delectable fresh cheese instead is a hard shelled, dried-out old piece of cheese. Waiter is notified, he claims "it was freshly made today" I think not. Main course...my husband's arrives, mine does not. The waiter forgot to add it to the order. As I sit waiting for my lunch to arrive, I feel very warm. Granted it is a late summer day and temps are still high, but I feel hot air BLOWING on me. I look behind us and there is a row of air-conditioning units blowing out hot air. There is a small piece of plexiglass that, I assume, was to deflect the heat. A poor place to put a table. My husband has finished his lunch. I am still waiting for mine to arrive. The meal was unremarkable, my husband's pasta, clams and tomatoes was "ok", my lemon ravioli was not very good. It lacked flavor and the ricotta cheese was grainy. All in all, the service poor, the price not worthy. There are many restaurants here, I would advise...
Read moreI cannot express how wonderful of dining experience we had with La Zagara! The food was delicious! We shared a caprese salad and then my wife had a perfectly cooked Seabass (filleto di spigola al limone) and I had the La Sfiziosa pizza, all delicious and exactly what we were looking for. The star of the show was the people, because my god they were the most hospitable and pleasant people we’ve talked to on our trip through Italy. We met the owner and her family, she was the quintessential Italian mother full of love and good stories! In addition we were served by an incredibly kind young man named Alphonso. Who set the tone for our meal and at the end gave us a shot a fennel digestif liqueur and then a shot of herbed amaro. Lastly, the view of Positano at night in their garden dining terrace was gorgeous. I highly recommend stopping by for a good meal and incredibly kind people! Thank you for spending time talking with us and letting us pet your adorable black lab...
Read moreDo not eat here! We came for lunch, and ordered a pizza. The pizza was fine, and the waiters we interacted with were nice. However when we went to pay for the meal we had to deal with an extremely rude lady at the counter. She said “ordering one meal and sharing is not how it works” “it’s not enough” and kept repeating this while giving us dirty looks. I understand if it is a policy that 2 or more dishes must be ordered, but we were not informed of this at all. If we had been we would have either ordered more, or gone somewhere else.
I think it is extremely rude to criticize paying customers. We only sat down for 20mins so it’s not like we were taking up space! Maybe we would have ordered more if everything wasn’t so overpriced. Would have been a lovely lunch if it wasn’t for this lady that made us feel terrible! Find somewhere else to eat that is reasonably priced and has...
