Positano is a stunning cliffside village on the famous Amalfi Coast, known for its picturesque landscapes, vibrant architecture, and beautiful pebble beachfronts. Its steeply-stacked houses painted in a palette of peach, pink, and terracotta, seem to tumble down to the sea.
During my visit, the charm of Positano was immediately apparent. The town's narrow, winding streets are lined with boutiques, art galleries, and cafés, each offering its own unique appeal. The main beach, Spiaggia Grande, is a lively hub where locals and tourists mingle, sunbathe, and enjoy watersports.
A standout experience was taking a boat tour along the coast. From the water, I admired the scale of Positano's dramatic cliffs and the lush greenery that blankets them. The sea's azure blue provided a striking contrast to the colorful buildings above.
Dining in Positano is a delight, with seafood being a staple on most menus. Restaurants often have terraces overlooking the sea, offering stunning views while you dine. The local cuisine is fresh and delicious, highlighting ingredients like fish, lemons, and olives, all staples of Mediterranean cooking.
The town also serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions such as the ancient city of Pompeii, the island of Capri, and other towns along the Amalfi Coast like Amalfi and Ravello.
Positano's combination of natural beauty, art, and culture makes it a captivating destination that embodies the romance and allure of the Italian Riviera. It's a place where the beauty of the landscape, the warmth of the people, and the charm of seaside living are woven together into an...
Read more100% RACIST towards black tourist!! BEWARE if you are a black person. My friend and I went to the beach to swim, within minutes one of the staff was signalling us to get out of the water because we didn't have a wrist band to swim there. He gestures for us to go further down the beach and when we did he came back within ten minutes asking us to leave the beach. We were only sitting in the water! He said we cannot sit in the water we can only swim in the water unless we pay. - it was racism for sure as half the people on the beach did not have bracelets yet my friend and I (both black women) were the only two being escorted off. When I asked to speak with the manager she insisted because she was cuban they weren't being racist and we had to pay to be on the beach. What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We argued and she grabbed my arm - PHYSICAL ASSAULT - saying I cannot film her and she's calling the police. Then she tried to detain us, however another coworker came and told us we could go. The "manager" (cuban woman) was screaming down the street at us to stay because she's calling the police on us. What a TERRIBLE experience. I asked to speak to her manager, I asked what her name was and who it was following us around the beach and she declined to give me any of that information. - I've been in Italy for two weeks and have not experienced this amount of RACISM AND PHYSICAL ASSAULT anywhere else. It hurts to see how racism is still very much alive in such a beautiful place.
Overall 0/10 - as for the beach - it's all pebbles and rocks, no sand so going barefoot is impossible without literally...
Read moreNice beach but it take time to get bus from Sorento to here: After reaching Sorento, you need go down stair quickly and buy ticket at a grocery store, then line up on the opposite site of the station. If you are late, when the bus come, if you was not in the very first place, you might be cut when the bus is full. And you need to wait for another 1h-1.30h to get another one.
However, on the bus you dont know when you should stop, because there is no announce ment, and you need to make a best guest. (I stop at the place show direction to walk down to Positano, but in fact I just need to wait for 3 more stops). Then I walked down and find the beach, during that time, it is nice to see a whole place from top to bottom + struggle to find right way to go down (I decided to get any stair I saw to go down even if it showed I go against google map direction 🫨).
After enjoy the beach, I walked up stair to find the bus stop. And I visited some stores along the way, and they are supper expensive compared to Rome and Naples 😂.
Again, I discovered random path and found nice place to take good pictures.
Finally, I followed google map and went up stair seem like 10-floor building 😂, instead of following the crowd. And get the bus which is crowded and I need to stood for 1h 🫥.
In general, nice trip with great experiences but I dont think I will come back as it is too tired for a long wait on bus to go there...
