My husband and I just left there. We are on our honeymoon. The food was pretty good but not nearly the best we have ever had. The reason for the 2 star review is because our main waiter, I guess upset that we didn’t order more food (because we had a large and late lunch at Maestro’s at Villa Treville, were not that hungry and told him as much in the beginning so we ordered their most expensive pasta and the tuna steak to share) so he tried to humiliate us by saying loudly “no more? No coffee? No dessert? NOTHING?? Just bread and olive oil…eh??” We gracefully did not say anything to him in return but it was in such poor taste, and speaks to his repulsive character and we will never return. He is fortunate that we have class, and tipped the standard 18% but he talked himself out of a very generous tip. Little did he know that my husband is the CEO of a major US company but we do not go around parading it. He maybe saw my African-American husband and assumed a stereotype but I hope he learns one day that everyone should be treated with respect. God does not like people who are ugly on the inside and karma is real. I will try to give some grace and say maybe the loud joke was lost in translation but I SINCERELY doubt it by...
Read moreJust like the stay at Hotel Marmorata, dining at L’Antica Cartiera was a rollercoaster 🎢 experience. Good cocktail 🍸 at sunset 🌅 with a quality spread, followed by an inedible amuse bouche, a $$$ starter that was simply a joke (unripened tomatoes 🍅 paired with one shrimp and one anchovy — I had asked to please leave the swordfish off, but falsely assumed that more of the other items would be added in its place and all that paired with a mediocre mozzarella), but what followed then was a superb risotto which would have earned AC a fourth star for this review, had the contorno not been disappointing again. Beware also that the wine list doesn’t show vintages. If you go, make sure to bring your own...

A refreshing, non-alcoholic drink is delivered followed by an amuse bouche – a puff pastry topped with a rather pungent mixture. The beef carpaccio was accompanied by interesting spices. WE selected the roasted bream with lemon sauce. While the fish was moist and flaky, the lemon sauce was watery and didn’t add to the dish. The accompanying grilled vegetables needed to be warmer. The baba dessert was good, but not freshly made. The gelato dessert was OK, but not as good a street vendor. Of course, the view is spectacular and the waitstaff made it a...
