I barely feel the need to leave reviews, but for the first time ever I am so disappointed I had to review this place immediately after our visit. During our week in Italy, this was by far the worst service we received.
Chef’s Special: The price of the food was generally ok in comparison to similar class restaurants, but when we ordered the chef's special way to prepare for fish, the quality didn’t match. The dish felt rushed, with minimal care in preparation. It seemed more like the chef gave us what was fastest way to prepare the fish, as opposed to the advertised well curated whole fish dish.
Oysters Service: The oysters were served with lemons without the typical accompaniments (Tabasco, onion vinaigrette etc.), which initially felt like minor negligence or a difference in standards until we had to request several times before they were finally brought out.
Bread and Butter: Bread arrived without butter, and when butter came after the main meal was eventually served, it came in hard, chopped pieces that weren’t properly prepared or softened falling short to falling short to how they served the subsequent tables after us.
Repeated Requests: Throughout our meal, nearly every item we ordered had to be requested multiple times, including basic things like the check. Despite the restaurant being empty for most of our visit, the service remained slow and disorganized.
Profiling-Based Service: We felt judged based on profiling, with a noticeable difference in how other tables were served. It seemed like we were treated as though we wouldn’t know what proper service should look like, leading to a very uncomfortable experience.
Management Response: After expressing our concerns to the restaurant manager, we were brushed off. Instead of addressing the issues, they offered free oysters and some poorly prepared chopped biscotti desserts, which did little to resolve the underlying problems.
In conclusion, while the food pricing was fair, the poor service, profiling, repeated delays, and dismissive attitude made this the low point of our...
Read moreMy mother, aunt and I were greeted nicely and given one of the best seats in the house, by the window, overlooking the palazzo. We were surprised to be the only customers there, considering the busyness of the surrounding competition. It’s a great location and from the outside looks like a hole in the wall, but the inside is very impressive. We were gifted a glass of Prosecco and enjoyed our Chianti and conversation. However, after the delicious bruschetta appetizer, our experience took a turn for the worse, very unfortunately. The chef did his best to provide a decent meal that we would enjoy. I wish we could say we liked the food, but sadly, it was unexpectedly inedible. Some of the seafood tasted expired, the not-so-flavorful flavors were “off”, the texture of the pastas/risotto were undercooked and the fish was mushy and bland. Some of our plates (even plates without shrimp) were garnished with the carcass of a shrimp head/thorax, which didn’t correlate with the entree nor did it look attractive. The restaurant tried to comp our ticket, but we still left money for our wine, etc. We are unhappy to report a negative experience, but it’s the truth, as we know it. We hope they will get a better chef/kitchen manager and take necessary measures to be a better restaurant. The best of luck to Sapore di...
Read moreI recently had one of the most incredible dining experiences at Blu Mare, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the owner and head chef, who took the time to explain the menu in detail and guide us through the many delicious options available. His passion for food was evident, and it set the perfect tone for our evening.
What truly made the experience special was when I asked him to surprise me with an off-menu dish. He created something truly exceptional that left my taste buds dancing with delight! Each course was a masterpiece, showcasing the freshest ingredients and the chef's remarkable skill.
Despite it being a busy Friday night, the chef made a point to check on us between courses, ensuring that everything was to our liking. His attentiveness and genuine care for his guests truly elevated the experience.
Whether you’re a local in Rome or just visiting this beautiful city, Blu Mare is an absolute must-visit. The ambiance, service, and, most importantly, the food were impeccable in every aspect. Thank you, Blu Mare, for an unforgettable evening! I can't wait to...
