I initially found Sciascia Caffe while looking for a caffe that opened early in the mornings and within the area that I was staying in. My first time at the caffee I was able to enjoy early morning, empty and quiet streets in Roma beforehand. Upon entering Sciascia I immediately noticed how many locals frequent the caffee. I took a look around and grabbed a menu to place an order. You will want to place an order first at the register, take your receipt to the counter, and wait for the lovely staff to complete your order. After now visiting Sciascia many times I've noticed that the locals will quickly down their espresso and isn't in the caffee for more than 5-10 mins max. It is a great place for people watching and I always snag my little table in the corner each time. I've ordered the same two items each time and I have not been disappointed -- chocolate cappuccino with a ham and cheese croissant. I am not a fan of sandwiches so to my surprise I was thrilled when I fell in love with this simple yet oh so delicious sandwich! I always frequent Sciascia in the mornings so this is a nice breakfast substitute esp after being slightly toasted. I highly recommend this caffee as it makes me feel less like a tourist and more like an Italian.

If only I could take this coffee shop home with me. We stumbled across this Sciascia last year while in Rome and when we found out we would be returning to Rome again this fall we added Sciascia to the itinerary for EVERY morning while in Rome. Even if it meant getting less sleep, we were there every morning. The coffee is fabulous, the pastries are fresh and delicious (the croissant with marmalade is our favorite), and the ambiance is perfection. Get there early and you'll have a relaxing experience with a place to sit down and sip your coffee slowly. Get there during the hustle and bustle and you might be forced to chug your cappuccino at the counter, Italian style. If a slower pace is more your jam, I highly suggest stopping in when it is busy, just once. The men behind the counter are like a well oiled machine. The way they whip up the plethora of drinks is like an art. I love to just sit (or stand) and watch them. A coffee shop that's been around 100 years truly has something special and will forever be one of my fondest memories of Rome.

Went here on a Saturday evening at around 5:30pm. Very nice caffe/bar. Awesome place to sit inside and have coffee/drinks and “people watch” as it is very busy inside and also with people coming in for an espresso at the bar. Very nice atmosphere. The cocktails are very good and reasonably priced. They also give free snacks with drinks (pastries, potato chips, nuts). The servers were busy yet the service was very good and friendly. Our server did not speak English and we didn’t know Italian but we still had great service (and some good laughs). I don’t remember his name (he is the guy in the attached picture). Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to go out for coffee and drinks!

I went here because of the reviews, half expecting it to be a trap that it was. I got a very rude waiter who got annoyed after not hearing me saying that I want to take it away (I speak Italian), gave me the wrong order of coffee (a clear proof he wasn't even listening because I wanted a macchiato and the showed a coffee with no milk on the bill). The cornetto was not in classic style it felt like it already absorbed too much humidity and tasted stale at 10:30am. Creama di pistacchio should be avoided as it tasted like hardened margarine and nothing like proper crema di pistacchio. Coffee, in my opinion, tasted burnt and bitter - not sure if it's not properly cleaned machine or the beans.

First, i like to see all the actions going on in the cafe. After me, the crowd came non stop, peoplecrowding the counter to grab their coffee. Some stay at the counter to enjoy their cuppa and leave. The man says to me. 1st , order the coffee first, then the pastries. That time, i dont see many choices of pastriea, but definately had chosen the pastry of my life. Custard pastry with chocolate. I dont find it anywhere i went and live. I will always remember this cafe. So i choose to sit just front of the counter and see the scene for once in my lifetime. Dont have that where i lived. Thank you for letting me find you!

Lost in translation a bit but I got caffè con cioccolato with espresso(€2.20) in it instead of caffe con ciocaltta(~€1) and espresso(€1.20) separate. Then I wanted espresso pregiato but thought it was a better espresso instead espresso panna cotta style(cream, espresso, chocolate) at least the cream wasn't with sugar. It was good but still I just wanted espresso classic. Mom and Dad got Mimosa and Long Island Tea. I'll come back tomorrow probably, just for the classics. Paid €30.60 when I just wanted espresso pregiatto for €1,20 not caffe gran ciocolatto for €4.50 each.
