It's not often you can go to Rome and have Italian food that truly knocks your socks off, especially after being in the city for almost 14 days. However Ditta Trinchetti not only does not disappoint, but fully redefines what good Italian food should and ought to be. Styled in a theme similar to hipster bars in Shoreditch (London) we were initially blown away by the generous drinks, but what followed is what truly impressed. A shared starter of grilled scamorza with prosciutto was easily enough for two and tasted divine, with the cheese adding a nice gentle offset to the saltiness of the ham. Mains of grilled polpo and roast pollo followed and whilst some say you need to be able to see the sea to get decent seafood, Ditta Trinchetti is enough to dispel even the strongest believer in that rule of thumb. The octopus was soft, flavourful and complemented with a gently boiled lettuce and cucumber - a summer-styled accompaniment that brought out the best in the delicate seafood. The chicken was even more astounding, with the meat being soft, juicy and full of intense umami, incredibly rare for the usually boring roast chicken. Portion sizes are generous so either come hungry or under-order - food comes out quickly enough you can always order more without waiting long.
Can highly, highly recommend this place. Just note it only has a few outside tables which may put off some people, but inside is better anyway, especially as it demonstrates that this is more of an all year round place which appears to be favoured by locals. Hurry up...
Read moreI'm such a food critic when I have to look up places to eat. I found some restaurants in Trastevere, but these were already booked (which I could've expected). So we decided to just pass by and see if we could find a nice place, which was a very unnatural feeling. I wasn't that enthousiastic about going for something so spontaneous, but I'm glad that we did! Else we wouldn't have found this gem in such a cozy romantic feeling allay. It's too bad that I didn't find any references during my search, else I would probably have visited anyways! Foremost the service made the experience. It was such a busy day, they almost had to run towards the different tables to get everyone covered, but still they managed to be friendly and take time for us. They only had a place more in the back of the restaurant, but I really liked that since I could peak into the kitchen that way. Probably not enjoyable for everyone, but I really like to cook myself and thought it was great to get an insight in their work. We ate the bruschetta, cacio e pepe, a plate of different chicken preparations and the tiramisu. I liked what we ordered, the cacio e pepe was heavenly, but I was a little underimpressed by the chicken dish. Further, they know what to ask for their dishes, which seems fair for the quality of the food and the area where the restaurant is placed. Overall we had a good experience with this restaurant and we would check out this place again if we were to...
Read moreDitta Trinchetti is a restaurant that will always stay in my memory and in my heart. It is a bit hidden, which makes it even more special and authentic, like a little treasure waiting to be discovered in Rome. From the moment I arrived, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with very kind and attentive service that truly makes a difference.
❤️Here I had the chance to eat the best Amatriciana pasta I have ever had in my life🍝❤️The dish was simply perfect: the pasta cooked just right, the sauce rich, balances, and full of flavor, with that authenticity you dream of finding in Italy. It was a gastronomic experience I will never forget—one of those meals that truly leave a mark.
Beyond the pasta, the menu offers many delicious options, with flavor combinations that feel out of this world. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the love they put into their cooking in every bite. If I had to point out something, I’d say the tiramisu could be a bit better, but that’s really just a tiny detail in an overall wonderful experience.
Out of all the restaurants I’ve tried in Rome, this one is without a doubt among the very best. I would go back a thousand times, and every time I’d order the Amatriciana pasta again with the same excitement. 🤣 Already looking forward to returning, because places like this are what make traveling even...
