Enoteca La Torre, Rome » My (last) visit: Oct 2023 » Previous visit: Nov 2018 » Total score: 4.6/5 » In a nutshell: A very good and in many parts even outstanding performance. Except for the strangely missing confiserie, the gourmet restaurant met my very high expectations.

Read moreJust out of this world, top-notch. If it's not the best, then there's nothing better. From the moment you walked in and were greeted by the maître d', the experience began. The building is stunning and sets the mood. The wait staff guided us through the meal every step of the way, answered all our questions, and gave life to the meal. They were fun and passionate about what they do and how they do it.. oh yeah, and the food was good too!
The sommelier was the most pleasant yet qualified guide, and he literally knew every percentage of every grape included in every varietal and year we asked about. Is that common? Does every sommelier know all these things? He must be the best. We chose the 'Moving' wine tour companion to our meal.
I think what most people might not realize is that when you choose the 8 course tasting menu, you really get 11 courses. I'm not sure if that's commonplace, but there were amuse-bouches, bread, and pre-dessert courses served as well.
Loved the use of Amberjack, the smoked butter changed my life, the octopus is so good (American octopus is fishy to me, this had killer umami) I would order it again, but only from there. Risotto on point, and the cabbage with fish was a game changer...I don't love cabbage because I think it's used in less-than-flattering ways in it's traditional dishes, but the flavor paired perfectly with the flavor of the fish (I forget which one, there was a lot of wine). And just to flex a little, they served a poached Quail egg with bechamel and crispy truffled mushrooms. DM me for details on that one. There's not enough space here.
Elegant sauce accompaniment presentations, table-side meat carving, and a dessert cart; I mean, what more could you want from a meal? The apple tart was one of the most creative and well presented desserts I've seen in a while, and we finished off the meal by enjoying a classic, house-made margarita, at the recombination of the waitstaff. A lot of people have allergies or specific preferences, but when you're open to a lot of ideas with food and drink, it can be hard to decide sometimes. A passionate suggestion will convince any traveler. We traveled to the Italian countryside and basically the whole world during this meal.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience. It was absolutely incredible;...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I chose Enoteca La Torre while on vacation in Rome to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arriving at Enoteca La Torre we were greeted by a server with impeccable English (as my girlfriend and I are both American). We were ushered into the dining room after the server checked our vaccination, and we’re a little nervous once we sat down. The room was almost silent, you could have heard a pin drop. We were slightly nervous that the atmosphere was not what we were looking for, however about 5 minutes in they put some quiet music on in the background and the restaurant filled up and the vibe completely changed giving it atmosphere and life just in time for our first course. My girlfriend and I both opted for the 7 course menu, and a mid price 5 glass wine pairing. Food was absolutely amazing and we both left with full bellies. Can not recommended the lamb enough, it was the best I have ever had. Wine pairing were perfect, my girlfriend loved all the white wines but I was particularly fond of one of the Tuscan reds I had later in the service (can’t remember the name). Price was high as we went all out because we were celebrating, but it was worth every penny. A dinner we will both remember for the rest of our lives! Thank you...
