I didn't know about the sculptor nor the house-museum, but thankfully a friend brought me there. It's a gem hidden in plain sight! The house is well preserved and contains many many works by the sculptor and his relatives (he was from a very artistic family!). The ground floor has his studio and exhibition area, while on the other floors there are the rooms where he lived and now are a gallery with paintings by him, his brother and other people close to him. I recommend to go out to the terrace and also to stop and watch the video about his life. And it's free, no ticket nor reservation needed (at least when I went, on April 2023).

Sa cité idéale apparaît comme déjà has been.

Okay, this place was really a surprise. I went there for an opening on the top floor and I thought "H.C. Andersen" meant the famous Danish fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen, but no, the museum is about Hendrik Christian Andersen, which is a Norwegian painter and sculptor that I had never even heard about. Besides his work, the place also has many paintings by his brother, Andreas Andersen, and to be honest I liked much more the paintings by the less known brother, they are really great. The apartment itself, which is were the family lived, is very beautiful by itself, with very nice rooms and a wonderful terrace. Apparently painters and sculptors made more money back then, or perhaps he was simply friends with a lot of rich people (which appears to be the case). Worth a visit if you are in the...
