Fermento Bistrot Caffè — Restaurant in Rome

My friends and I decided to eat at this place considering it had great reviews however our experience was awful. We arrived and the man behind the bar greeted us warmly however, the British waiter (I’m assuming he was British because of his accent) was extremely condescending and rude. When I asked about a specific item on the menu, he just stared at us like we were dumb. Then, we wait for another 35 minutes for our food (after waiting about 15 minutes for our drinks). He had started serving other people that got there AFTER us, we assumed he forgot about us so one of my friends went inside to get his attention. He came to our table saying our food is almost ready in a defensive manner when all we wanted was an estimate time. We assumed our food would be warm for how long it took, but by the time he came with our food, it was cold. It wasn’t worth the hassle to have them redo our food since we had been there for what it felt like forever, and we were just ready to leave this place. Although we didn’t express our discontentment at the restaurant due to already feeling unwelcome, I’m now writing the review after finally being back home. The place itself is cute, however the British man shouldn’t have such an attitude. I will say, if there aren’t a lot of people they will sit you. We didn’t make any reservation as this was a last minute decision but I wish we would’ve gone somewhere else for dinner. But, we did see a couple get turned away for not having a reservation. We booked a table using The Fork app, not because of any discounts, I'm rather used to it and it's convenient. Anyway, I've been to many places in Italy and it's the first time I've had such a bad service, probably 'cause the waiter wasn't Italian, he was British, I suppose, judging by the accent. His attitude was jumpy and pushy all the time, I suspect he could've been using some drugs, since he also dropped and broke some glasses and plates as well. At the beginning he told us to take our time, then he ambushed my husband, talking to him about discounts and stuff, probably because we booked through the app. The overall feeling was bittersweet to say the least, a star is too much for that guy, who I suppose is kept there simply for his English. Me and my wife came to this place for a late lunch. We sat down and waited for someone to notice us and take our order. Unfortunately, no one came. Oh wait, a waiter actually passed us by a number of times, almost as if ostentatiously ignoring us, while vigorously chatting with other patrons.
