This almost can’t be described. It was such a surreal experience for us. While walking around our Testaccio neighborhood in Rome during our recent stay, we stumbled upon this “park” really a plaza, Piazza Testaccio. We noticed almost all of the local residents that were enjoying the evening in this park had bottles of beer or bottles of wine and glasses with them while enjoying this incredible night. We asked a local residence and they directed us to this amazing little spot, L’Oasi della Birra, where we could purchase a bottle of wine. They had an outdoor bar service area setup where you could just walk up and order wine, or beer and even food. Seconds later we were in the piazza with all of the wonderful local residents enjoying all of the sites and sounds of a very contented neighborhood. I have never felt such a connection to an area before, And we had just arrived in Rome that day. We felt like we had lived there our whole lives. One of our group of friends we were travelling with walked from his neighborhood and enjoyed a beer with us as well and he was also blown away. The next night we did it all over again and our server from the previous night at L’Oasi della Birra remembered us and welcomed us back like we were family he hadn’t seen in years. Such an incredible experience. Thanks to everyone at L’ Oasi della Birra and all the residents of the Testaccio neighbourhood for making our experience in Rome unforgettable !! Such...
Read moreI had an aperitivo here. We had the "6 varieties" charcuterie board - we let the staff choose the varieties for us, we just told them what we didn't like so they could avoid it - and I had a glass of Franciacorta, my friend had a very generously poured Negroni. Reasonably priced, really nice location off Piazza Testaccio that has such a classic Italian neighborhood vibe (kids playing with soccer balls, nonni chatting on benches). We enjoyed the fast and friendly service. The atmosphere and vibe is cool, we ate inside and it felt a bit like dining in a wine cellar. The focaccia was so good, it came out warm! We spent €20 per person....
Read moreThis place is great. One of the few places in Rome I felt like I could afford a second beer. It’s like 5-6 euro for a large beer or a glass of decent wine. For 11 you get the drink and the appertivo buffet. It’s a very nice selection of snacks including pastas, cold cuts, veggies and lentils,beans,bread...a vegetarian could do ok here. The have a great liquor store and wine experts might like to browse. Also they seem to have special teas and fancy teapots on offer. I...
