I don’t really care to write reviews but the despicable experience I had in this restaurant forced me to do so.
I ordered seafood pasta which was giving off an awful smell and rancid taste. I called the waiter to explain that the pasta is inedible. In a rude manner, he said “Of course it has a smell it’s seafood. From the sea.” I am shocked by this behavior. I’m not a child and as an Asian person I very well know how fresh seafood tastes like! I can’t fully describe how bad the smell of that pasta but just imagine my eyes turned watery from keeping the dish in front of me. I asked the waiter to replace my food with meat lasagna and a Tuna pizza. The meat lasagna was okayish but the pizza is a disgrace !! Pizza dough was hard, the tuna and toppings seemed to be made from inferior ingredients even sidewalk pizzeria around Rome tastes wayyy better! I could’nt finish anything on top of that the rude waiter told me to pay for the disgusting pasta by saying “you also pay for the seafood.” Despicable behavior, zero customer service! Don’t ever come to this restaurant! Trust me! I’ve been to many many restaurants all over the world and streetfood is even better than that piece of crap restaurant! Such a shame because the servers are actually South Asians of all people they should have known fresh vs rotten seafood !...
Read moreQuite possibly the most underwhelming meal I've had in Italy thus far.
Le Lanterne’s claim to fame is its proximity to Fontana di Trevi in Rome and because of that, I’m certain it’s the reason why it even has traffic to begin with.
Like most tourists, my boyfriend and I decided to have a seat and opted for the outdoor seating so that we could enjoy the view.
The beer was cheap, about 4€ a glass, and was pretty decent. The food, however, was very disappointing. I had ordered ravioli and only received about 8 pieces on my plate with an interesting pink tomato sauce. The flavor was so-so but I was sad that I wasn’t even full from it.
The service was next to nonexistent. Aside from our server taking our order (after having waited for a couple minutes) we never saw him until we flagged him down for the check. I get that we’re tourists but damn, have a little respect!
Overall, I don’t think I’ll be coming back here especially considering there are so many more amazing...
Read moreWe ate outside, and unfortunately, a couple setting next to us were smoking the whole time. We wanted just to stop for apertivo. We told them that when we sat down. We ordered 2 drinks and a mixed Italy appetizer. They charged 20 euro for the appetizer, and you don't get that much with it. Then, one of their employees came over to ask if we wanted bread. I said "sure" thinking it was complimentary bread for the table, But it was not. It was the foccacia, and they charged 5 euro for it. When we asked for the check, they looked angry that we didn't stay for dinner. Even though I wouldn't call this place expensive. I would say you don't get much for what they charge. ( Our total bill was over €50 for 2 drinks, an appetizer, and bread.) The staff is borderline creepy. This was one of our last meals after spending 2 and a 1/2 weeks in Italy, and It was our most...
