Visited with my partner on the rooftop for the tasting menu.
Amuse-Bouche: The meal began with a lively amuse-bouche – a sharp burst of vinegar on first bite that awakened the palate. Fresh vegetables offered a crisp contrast, while smooth mayonnaise softened the acidity, leaving a clean, invigorating finish that primed the taste buds for what was to come.
Octopus in Marinara Sauce with Guttiau Bread & Tortilla: The first savory course showcased a masterful interplay of textures and flavors. Perfectly cooked octopus – tender, subtly smoky, and fresh – rested in a rich, vibrant marinara sauce that brought depth and brightness. Delicately crisp guttiau bread added a rustic note, while the flame-grilled tortilla provided a salty crunch and a hint of charred flavor. Creamy mayonnaise rounded out the dish, softening the sharper notes and bringing everything together.
Pork Agnolotti in Smoky Ham Broth, BBQ Sauce & Onions: A true journey of flavors. The agnolotti pasta was perfectly al dente, encasing a rich pork filling that paired beautifully with the smoky ham broth. A delicate trace of homemade BBQ sauce whispered through the dish, adding sweetness and complexity without overpowering. The onions played a starring role – their profile evolved from sweet to tangy to lightly bitter, weaving a seamless thread that tied all the flavors together into a harmonious whole.
Black Cod with Baby Gem & Caviar: The black cod was nothing short of exquisite – flaky, buttery, and full of rich, oceanic character. Its subtle fat content was perfectly balanced by a hint of bitterness and charred notes. Baby gem lettuce brought a smoky crunch, while pearls of caviar offered bursts of briny luxury, heightening the dish with a refined pop of flavor.
Mandarin, Elderberry & Sichuan Pepper: A vibrant interlude between savory and sweet. The semifreddo carried delicate ice crystal crunch, infused with mint for a cool, aromatic lift. Mandarin provided explosive citrus brightness, elderberry added a gentle tartness, and a whisper of Sichuan pepper introduced an unexpected, tingling warmth. Chantilly cream acted as a smooth, neutral canvas, bringing the elements together – though the meringue’s slight stickiness detracted from an otherwise stunning bite.
Dark Chocolate Two Ways, Caramel & Wild Berries: The finale was indulgent yet carefully layered. A dark chocolate ganache – smooth, lightly aerated, and not overly rich – shared the plate with a textural, raw-edged chocolate crunch. Deeply caramelized salted caramel drops provided a warm, burnt-sugar depth, though the berry coulis occasionally clashed with their richness. Wild berries added freshness, acidity, and visual vibrancy, while cherry contributed a bold, tangy note – though at times it slightly overshadowed the caramel. Overall, the dessert delivered balance, complexity, and satisfying contrast.

Overall Impression
This tasting menu was a masterclass in progression – from sharp, palate-awakening notes to deep, indulgent finales. Each course carried distinct textures, layered flavors, and a sense of place. While minor elements (a touch of excess vinegar, sticky meringue, and a few flavor clashes) kept it from perfection, the creativity and execution placed this experience among the most memorable of...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst part of our trip to Rome. We had been in Italy for 3 weeks for our honeymoon, and came to Oro Bistro on our last day. My husband had booked reservations for us for some cocktails. Once we arrived upstairs we saw the gorgeous view, which was partially obstructed in the cocktail area so we asked to move to the open patio for a better view. They happily moved us but unfortunately it was a HOT sunny day and they placed us on a table which was in direct sun with no umbrella. Which was absolutely fine at first, but then we began to really feel it so we asked to be moved to a shaded area on the patio. After a quick glance I saw that there were 4 or 5 open tables. They said no, those were reserved. I kept an eye on those tables, most of them remained empty and we were left to melt in the sun. I am not the first person to leave a google review complaining about this.
We had only stepped in for a drink and perhaps a snack. The drinks were ridiculously expensive, nothing special about them, poorly carelessly made, not memorable. 12 Euro for a Coke! 26 Euro for a vodka and soda water!! I know the hotel is going to defend themselves by saying they are expensive because of the "top notch" service that it comes with.....NO. Yes the service we received at Oro Bisro was memorable, only because it was the worst service we had experienced in all of Italy. After we ordered an app, the waiter looked at us blankly and asked...and?? I was shocked, as if we were supposed to order more food? It made us incredibly uncomfortable. And this was done several times. We felt obligated to purchase another meal off the menu and again the server asked, well what about mains? and for mains? are you going to get mains? Just no manners whatsoever. We told him we weren't getting any mains and that we were just here for apps as we ate our beef tartar and caprese salad with our aperol spritz we both ordered. The waiter then noticed we were out of bread so he said "oh let me grab some more for you". I thought that was nice until we got the bill. We were charged for the "complimentary bread" and for the refill of bread. Openly pushy service, charging for bread that seems to be free everywhere else, this was shameful. What a way to ruin someones day. Such a...
Read moreOverpriced rooftop and a service that left everything to be desired… just another tourist trap. Save your money and go to any other place in the city.
Went there around 7:30pm with a reservation for 2. We ordered 2 fruit juices of which it was mostly ice (and 12€ each…), and a guacamole with some chips. To my surprise, the guac was made with cilantro (wtf???), and I’m one of those people to whom it tastes like soap so I kindly asked them if they could take it back and do something about it, perhaps change it for another thing. After almost 20 min the waiter came back with another batch of the same awful avocado/cilantro mix, to which I asked again if they could change it for the hummus. The waiter apologised and said yes but completely forgot about it since another 20min had passed and they never got back with anything… At that point I just wanted to leave the place, we asked for the check and… yes… they forgot all about us again… yay! So we asked for the check yet again, the waiter apologised and finally brought the check, which included the guacamole that we didn’t consumed.. so we asked to fix that cause I had no intention to pay another 16€ for an insane mix of guacamole that we didn’t consumed. As you might expect at this point, they forgot all about us yet again.. And while waiting, a seagull decided on me as a shit target, great touch 🙃 our table didn’t have anything to protect us from the sun as the other tables had. Extremely pissed off, I went to the register to pay for our drinks and again, they tried to charge me for that green paste they called guacamole… The manager finally corrected the situation, but not without asking me first what was wrong with the guacamole..
Again, just save your money and go to any...
