Osteria I Maccheroncini — Restaurant in Rome

I recently ate in this restaurant and I have to say that the taste of the food was fine. The servers were pleasant and it had a true Roman feel. However, had I not been in company of others dining with me tonight, I would have walked out before the food even arrived. Within the space of 10 minutes, I witnessed a waiter cleaning his mouth on a dishcloth used for serving, waiters eating food in the kitchen with their hands and a waitress helping herself to a glass of wine while working. I seldom see such sloppy standards and will not be returning. Had I not seen what I did, I would have imagined everything to be at a good standard. I just felt so put off by the sheer lack of care to the point that I barely touched my meal....

Ottima Osteria romana. Il posto si presenta esattamente come deve essere un'osteria, con pochi tavoli (quindi meglio prenotare), in un unica sala e sullo sfondo la cucina con Cinzia (la titolare) che di tanto in tanto sbircia la sala per vedere come procede la serata e se la gente ha l'espressione soddisfatta di chi sta mangiando bene. Da parte del personale di sala troviamo preparazione, cortesia e disponibilità, declinata in accento romanesco. Il menù è semplice e lo si può leggere in una grande lavagna che copre una parete; diversi sono i colori, per antipasti, primi, secondi ecc. ...e troviamo i tipici piatti della tradizione romana: tonnarelli cacio e pepe, carbonara, gricia, saltimbocca, ecc.fino ad arrivare ai dolci...e bisogna arrivarci! Meglio andare digiuni da un po', perchè limitarsi nella scelta è frustrante ;-) Ridotta, ma attenta, la scelta dei vini; con, ovviamente indispensabili presenze laziali, accompagnati da alcuni vini tipici marchigiani e abruzzesi.
