Of the five trips I’ve taken to Italy, this was easily the most disappointing dining experience—and that disappointment came almost entirely from the service, which was unexpectedly poor for a restaurant at this caliber.
I’ve visited Rome several times and had looked forward to dining here for years. It’s always booked, so this time I made a reservation several weeks in advance and requested a table outside. That request wasn’t acknowledged or honored—not a dealbreaker. We were seated indoors at a long rectangular table meant for six, which felt awkward for our group of five. I asked politely if we could switch to a nearby round table that remained empty the entire evening, but the waitress shut it down immediately with a curt “impossible.” No explanation, no flexibility, just a dismissive tone. Note that that table alongside with several round tables remained empty during our entire stay.
Unfortunately, that attitude carried through the entire meal. The staff, both the male waiter and female waitresses who took care of us felt rushed, uninterested, and rude. When we asked for wine suggestions or inquired about the menu, the responses were dismissive and came with a noticeable air of impatience.
The food arrived with both the primi and secondi courses served at the same time, something I have never experienced in Italy and which completely disrupted the flow of the meal and experience. Worse still, no one at the table had plates or silverware when the dishes were brought out, and we had to ask for them while our food sat getting cold. The plates were set down with an almost careless energy—fast, rough, and without any sense of attention to detail.
Most of the food was decent—nothing that stood out, but competently prepared. That said, one dish in particular was a letdown: the lamb was overwhelmingly fatty with hardly any actual meat to enjoy (note this dish was over 40 euro, so really subpar for what you are paying for).
In the end, this meal didn’t come close to the standard I’d expected. The experience lacked the warmth, attentiveness, and care that are usually part of dining out in Italy—especially in Rome, where so many other restaurants manage to offer fantastic food with genuinely welcoming service. I really wanted this to be a highlight of the trip, but instead, it left me...
Read moreOur experience with my family in this restaurant wasn’t good although I found this restaurant as hidden gem- one of the best places to eat. Firstly, would like to mention that the food itself is good. At least those that we tried. But I’d like to say a lot about awful service. Not to be empty worded will describe our situation
Waiter couldn’t name the difference in between all kinds of vodka they have in the menu. He just told us that he doesn’t know anything about it. Later, vodka we eventually chose was served above room temperature, but it’s supposed to be at least 6-10 degrees. Same for the wine temperature. As we figure out later - restaurant has a sommelier, but no one mentioned anything about him and he was absent anyway
Appetisers after serving stayed with us around 30-40 minutes as they forgot to serve us the main food. After realising this, waiter came to ask if we finished or not, to justify his mistake. But if we talking about good service in restaurants - they either asking when to serve the main dish or saying what is the timing to serve every dish accordingly. We didn’t get any of this
Asking the bill we asked to talk to the manager, whom we were waiting for another 15 minutes. after my conversation with the person who came and after several questions, he couldn’t answer as a manager it turned out that they send a cashier, who didn’t even introduce himself, which position he’s taking.
For the request to give the contact of the manager if he’s not around that evening, they gave us fake number.
So for us this restaurant doesn’t cost that money we paid. only pathos and pomposity without...
Read moreI was very impressed with this restaurant. I was recommend this by our Hotel concierge as a typical Roman establishment with typically Roman dishes and I was not disappointed. I just tried my luck and turned up at 19:00 when they open for evening service and they managed to accommodate us nonetheless, I would suggest that you book a table in advance as it is understandable very popular and if we had come later I doubt they would have been able to find us seating easily.
We sat in the outside area in mid January but they have it heated very effectively with paraffin heaters, be careful not to sit too close as they are very hot. The menu is extensive but the waiting staff are very well informed and are able to answer all questions regarding the dishes and they can make recommendations. The sommelier is also very well informed which is very good as they have an absolutely huge wine list, offering a full selection of Italian wine from all over the country to new and old world international wine including some very big names such as Chateau Le Pin and Petrus
All the food was served piping hot and very quickly, all of it was absolutely delicious and cooked very well. When we choose not to have a dessert they actually gave us one on the house which was very nice of them indeed. I feel I cannot emphasis how good the food actually was, there is some very good cooking in Italy but this restaurant stood out.
If you are in Rome and looking to authentic Romain food than I doubt you can go wrong with this restaurant. When I go back to Rome I will definitely be going to...
