At the centerpiece of my culinary adventure stood a magnificent charcuterie board, boasting an array of artisanal delights. 🧀🥓 Picture it now; succulent prosciutto, salami, and mortadella draped ever so delicately over velvety fresh figs like the ripples in the River Tiber, accompanied by a symphony of sharp aged cheeses and a rainbow of marinated olives, beckoning me to surrender to their savory charm in such a way that it called out to me in a seductive manner like that of the evening after a marriage. It called out to me.. Slone, I know you’ve been searching for me, well here I am “take me”. 🍇🍖🧅
Next, I savored the heavenly flavors of three distinctive pasta dishes a true ode to Italian culinary mastery. 🍝 The Amatriciana Coi Rigatoni dazzled my taste buds with its tantalizing blend of perfectly al dente pasta, smoky pancetta, and a robust tomato sauce infused with the fiery kisses of chili flakes slowly caressing my tongue. 🍅🌶️ Then, the Carbonara Bona Bona whispered promises of comfort and indulgence, with decadent strands of pasta embracing a luxurious sauce enriched with egg yolks, pecorino cheese, and crispy pancetta. It was a harmonious symphony of creamy textures and rich flavors that left me longing for more and more.🥚🧀🥓 But it was the Tonnarello Fatto in Casa Cacio e Pepe that stole my heart, and turned me into a fean longing for another taste. It was the homemade pasta ribbons intertwined with a velvety pecorino Romano cheese sauce, boasting a pepper kick that danced effortlessly on my palate. 🍝🧀🌶️
As the crescendo of flavors reached its pinnacle, a magnificent sausage, potato, and burrata pizza emerged triumphantly, tantalizing my eager senses. Like Julius Caesar himself standing right before me, better yet walking over to me seductively whispering into my ear it’s not over yet!🍕 The crisp yet pillowy pizza crust cradled sizzling Italian sausage like a big spoon holds a little spoon, buttery potatoes, and the delicate creaminess of burrata cheese, creating a divine union of textures and tastes. It was like I was at a polyamorous wedding of three unique but divine ingredients combined into one spicy relationship that can only be described as bliss🥔🧀🌭 It was at this point I thought to myself.. I’m done.. how can I possibly ever out do this.. I will never be able to eat the same way again.. Food now has not become an activity that I do to stay alive but a love-hate passionate reality that I cannot live without.
In the embrace of Trattoria Otello Trastevere, food became art, and every bite was a love letter to gastronomic excellence. Come and taste the passion, be enchanted by the flavors, and surrender yourself to an amorous affair with every dish. This trattoria is more than just a restaurant; it's a cathedral of culinary delight just waiting to cast its love spell upon...
Read moreSurprised by the good reviews as our experience was disappointing from start to finish.
We ordered two pizzas, both had the most rubbery cheese which was unable to melt - as shown in pictures. The thickness of toppings meant they didn’t have time to cook in the oven which resulted in watery, flavourless food - the ingredients were cheap. I told the waiter the pizza wasn’t good, he replied “well that’s what you ordered, I told you not to” and laughed, assuming we would find this funny. He then offered an alternative, I refused all the meals were bad.
A friend had the mussels, these were very gritty. Her wine was dreadful. The sparkling water for the table was flat.
We asked for the bill, the waiter then brought the manager to discuss our feedback. The manger was defensive and told her the pizzas were typical of Rome. I’ve show these pictures to 4 restaurant owners in Rome and they’ve shared my dismay, these are not Roman pizzas. The waiter and manager were very dismissive yet trying to act like they cared. They decided to discount our bill by €80. We didn’t ask for them to do this. We insisted on paying. It was the right gesture for them to make, but sad they seemed to do this to avoid a negative review rather than finely care about our experience.
We will not go back and remain baffled by the number of people...
Read moreMmmmmmm interesting……. There are first times for everything after all. Food and wine we had were just ok, basic, not bad, not great as well (for example gnocchi from the bag with a plain tomato sauce my 10 year old nephew can make). I disagree with others that it has normal prices, especially the 2nd dishes/courses are awfully overpriced for absolutely no reason, that’s why we didn’t order any after all. End of food review. Service now …. What to say words can’t describe…. A team of 12-14 rather young people, walking around, making fun, laughing, swearing, showing to each other middle fingers, in general a very relaxed team of people that get paid for making whatever they like inside the definitely unattended shop…. The cutlery was dirty, we had to take our selves things we needed for our food, like oil, vinegar, salt and pepper, from their stand, because employees were busy playing with them selves… They took our order, served it and then we paid at the end… that was all, I guess a client in a restaurant doesn’t need anything else, correct? We definitely had an interesting time in here… I wonder who makes the 5 Star reviews…. Really people get serious, you mislead other travelers to awful places that offer just above the average food by rating it so unjustifiably high. Really...
