A delightful location and very aesthetically pleasing with locals and tourists frequenting tables. The pastries, cakes and coffees were lovely and very reasonably priced. We liked the place so much that we went back for a late lunch. The menu was extensive and the food looked fabulous that people were already eating (there was no english version though), and after ordering meats and cheese followed by chicken and a MEDIUM cooked Fillet Steak with baked potatoes (usually cubed), we were looking forward to it. The meats arrived with no cheese which was dissapointing. The chicken was very small but did look and taste nice, we got fries but decided that could have been lost in translation, so didn't say anything. The Fillet was thick, covered in a cheese sauce and looked very nice, but it was absolutely not cooked, blue on the inside. (See picture) We mentioned this to the waitress and she said it was because it was thick. It was sent back and the same piece returned and cooked a little more, I had finished the chicken by this point. It still wasn't great and rare in the centre. I did feel for the waitress as it really wasn't her fault but she couldn't look at us. They knocked €3.50 off the bill which, including 2 beers was then €70. It was a lovely place and the staff were pleasant, we would go again for coffee's but probably...
Read moreI've walked past this place several times, thinking that I'd really like to check it out. Finally did one night and I regret it.
The waiting staff are some of the worst I've experienced, either clueless as to what to do with you or being extremely rude and dismissive. I entered and after a bit of a wait i was shown to a table, I took a chance and asked politely if there was an english menu. The waitress then gave me a disgusted look and a long "noo", I felt that was a bit extra but pressed on. I ordered my drink, it was an english named spirit that was listed on the menu and it took 3 tries, i do not have any kind of strong accent. I then try to ask about the menu and she pretendals to not understand what I'm saying despite the fact that while yes my Italian is weak, no one else has struggled to understand me before now. After my drink arrived and she came around to ask about food and yet again trying to ask basic questions which amounted to nothing but "huh" I gave up and decided not to eat there, this same waitress then ripped up everything she had placed earlier in expectation of a meal while my drink was still on the table and proceeded to storm off.
If you are a tourist I'd strongly recommend avoiding UBK. There are plenty of other restaurants around and many have much friendlier staff who won't pretend to not...
Read moreReally great food and mostly great service, with a few notes. 1st visit we were met by a male server who tried to push us into one of his small back tables that had nothing going for it then 2 more just like it. My wife and I prefer sitting next to each other and these tables we could only sit across. The restaurant was mostly empty. I pointed to 3 tables and he kept saying "No". Likely someone else's station?? Not sure really. We went outside and almost left, but asked a female server, pointing to a table, if we could have it. She smiled and said "of course". The male server was not happy with what happened, but we ignored him and the woman took care of us, very well. I had a pizza, one of the best I've had, my wife had Poke, also awesome. We ate here again later, taking the same table 😊. This would be 5 stars if not for the not nice man server who just does not get that making the customer happy is the first priority of any restaurant. We were past restaurant owners so we...
