Alpina Chalet — Restaurant in Salten-Schlern - Salto-Sciliar

What an incredible meal! We arrived in the evening with no reservation and were welcomed in and seated immediately.

Service from the very beginning and throughout was fantastic, and we were made aware that they are most well known for their steaks and pizzas.

We opted for a Chateaubriand to share, along with some grilled veg and sweet potato fries.

I work at a well known and loved steak restaurant in England, and while I have always said we serve the best steaks I may have to add an asterisk to that statement because I was so blown away by the Chateaubriand that I just had.

Tender, incredibly lean, so flavorful, and the most beautiful color. I was recommended a glass of the Lagrein Perl, which is a wine local to the Dolomites and it paired beautifully with my meal.

The pricing was also unbelievably fair, at €12.50 per 100g the steak was so well worth it.

Overall, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was excellent. Nonetheless, the level of service was abysmal. Here's the thing: while my mother was out skiing, I went to this restaurant to order. After around fifteen minutes, my mother arrived and informed the manager—or possibly the manager—in Italian that "My daughter is already inside," to which the manager replied, "Non ci credo." We are deeply insulted and offended by the way he speaks, so what does he mean when he says he doesn't believe it? Dined at Alpina Chalet twice during our stay in Compaccio and the experience was perfect. We had steaks on both occasions and they were delicious and perfectly cooked. The gourmet pizzas were also very good with nice fluffy dough and top quality ingredients. The atmosphere is perfect, with a relaxed ambience, stunning views and friendly and efficient service. Shout out to Pauli for accommodating all of our requests and being super friendly. All in all a great experience that we can't wait to repeat when we're back...
