Pizza was okay. They have shade. But the staff are extremely rude and will lie to you and manipulate you. We attempted to order one pizza, he said we must order one per person. The pizzas are about a 12-13" diameter, easily enough to feed two hungry adults, or 3-4 adults if you only want 2-3 slices each. Think large digorno size. The table of native Italians right next to us were not required to order one pizza per person, and shared. He smiled and chatted with them. We got only rude states in spite of being polite, and thanking him in Italian for everything. When we asked for tap water, he said they don't serve it. The still water they did serve was out of a refillable bottle with their restaurant name on it. Literally tap water that they just charge for. After seeing the other table getting such a large pizza (they only serve the one size, 16 euros per) and them not being required to get a pizza per person we asked if we could cancel the extra one he'd insisted on since even sharing we would have left overs. He said 'no, the order is already in.' he was a young guy, and after ignoring our table but will tending to tankless around us for the next while an elder server came to package up or food, bring the check and cash us out. I recommend you find somewhere else with some human decency. We can't even take the leftovers onto the cruise boat with us. 6 euro cover charge. 4 for still...
Read moreReally nothing special. First night here in Santa Margherita and the patio looked nice so we stopped by. Prices were pretty high but easily justifiable for a good meal. That was simply not the case. We ordered a pizza, pesto pasta and baked vegetables as a side. Each one came out at different times in 3-5 minute intervals which is just careless. The pizza was actually pretty solid and worth getting. The pesto pasta was just sad. Bland noodles and average jarred pesto. Noodles were overdone and no seasoning, cooked in unsalted water. The vegetables, based on the varied temperature had to be microwaved, thus previously roasted. Flavour was ok but some were warm, some cool. All mushy. No char. The servers were nice enough but very rushy and had no care. I think 60€ for those 3 staggered dishes and a 1/2 L of house wine is disappointing. I wouldn’t spend your money here. Especially if you’re excited about eating in a country that is known for high quality ingredients in...
Read moreI was on vacation in the Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Portofino area. I entered one of the evenings at Pizzeria Gennaro in Santa Marggherita and saw that it has a varied menu in addition to pizza. We were 4 people. We ordered veal escalope and fish. The escalope was below any level of culinary decency. The veal in a maximum quantity of 100 grams, cut very thin, had been fried on a stove or frying pan, it was very hard and tasteless. A sauce consisting of a maximum of 1 mushroom was poured over the meat, but full of starch or ready-made sauce. Execrable. Our friend who caught the fish was just as disappointed with the quality of the fish. But that was not all. We ordered a Pinot Noir wine and we were brought a dry wine, unpleasant in taste, far from any Pinot Noir we have ever drunk and the top cost 29 Euros. Exaggeratedly high prices for both food and drink, for the quality it...
