So, I’ve been to Italy 4 times, (4 weeks at a time) and seen pretty much all there is to see in this beautiful country, but never have I seen/attended a worse restaurant than Barracuda in Lake Garda. The food, the drink options and most of all the absolute disgusting service we were unfortunately subjected to was shockingly bad… from the moment we arrived to be seated to eat we were not greeted and had 5 waiters/staff walk past without any Chow! or even eye contact, once someone did finally come to us, we (our family of 4) were seated and we were about to hopefully have a pleasant meal. We got menus, drink orders etc which were fine, then there was an issue with the very hot (34 degrees sun) hitting our table, mostly on my wife’s face, I asked the waiter ‘can you please move the umbrella for us so the sun is off my wife as it’s very hot’? And got the worst (and I’m extremely patient and understanding person by nature) response/ reaction from him with massive attitude holding the umbrella shaking it violently shouting at me saying ‘this way! That way! What do you want from me’!! Anger all over his face, and I then responded angrily myself, going over to it and moving it myself for my wife, he walked away, said some obscenity in Italian towards me, (we can speak Italian), and then would not serve us anymore. I don’t know his name, but to describe him he was a short man, dark hair, lower arm tattoos on both arms, and huge attitude problems. Once we had paid the bill and left, we were willing to put this behind us and actually have a drink in their small bar across the road on the waters edge, he then went out of his way to walk across the road and tell the staff not to let us in as we (me most likely) were rude ‘swearing’ (word), in Italian again.. we can understand.
I sincerely hope the owner and/or boss reads this as it’s unacceptable behaviour especially towards good paying tourists who helps pay his wage, without tourists coming, the town would be broke. This place had decent reviews we read, but clearly had a very bad experience unfortunately. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Hope he gets a...
Read moreMy friend and I had lunch at Barracuda yesterday and while the service was friendly and the atmosphere genuinely enjoyable, the aftermath of our meal was alarming. We shared an octopus carpaccio, a mixed seafood dish, and a smoked salmon panini. By the next morning, both of us were dealing with severe stomachaches and diarrhea.
We were part of a larger group of five people, but only the two of us ate at Barracuda — the other three dined elsewhere and remained completely fine. That makes it very hard to ignore the timing and the common link between the symptoms and what we ate here.
It’s really confusing and disappointing because everything seemed fine on the surface: the staff was welcoming, and the ambiance was great. But something was clearly wrong with the food. For a place that presents itself as a quality seafood restaurant, this kind of issue is unacceptable. I hope the management takes this seriously and looks into their food handling and...
Read moreVenue: lovely restaurant just outside the old town. Perfect place to grab a drink and watch the sunset. Small fruit platter served with drinks. Inside restaurant was nice, well spaced out seating and toilets were clean. Staff: very attentive & friendly, couldn’t ask for more. Atmosphere: music (ABBA/ Blondie etc) and disco lights after dark. Could be fun. Food: hhhmmmm mixed reviews. Bolognese - son said it was in his top 3 ever. Daughter’s chicken & chips - she really enjoyed. The steak & potatoes (€27 euros ) - disappointing. Perhaps I’m spoiled by the food in the UK but it lacked finesse. Potatoes felt like re-heats and lacked flavour (try add garlic / rosemary) and there was zero veg / garnish (a roasted tomato wouldn’t do any harm). It wouldn’t take much to try up it a notch. Think of the finishing touches. Nice restaurant though and perhaps I’m being fussy but I was hoping for a bit more, that’s all. Might just stick to pizza /...
