Ristorante 'da Filippo' — Restaurant in Sorrento

We were really excited to eat here after reading through all the good reviews + it was also recommended to us through a local. However, the experience we had at this restaurant was so disappointing it prompted me ( someone who has never ever bothered with leaving reviews ) to write this. I ordered the fried fish platter while my friend ordered the steak. The fried fish platter came cold and soggy like…20 euros for this? you gotta be kidding me 😭😭😭 It got me thinking whether they served me leftovers or if I just got unlucky tonight. I debated on asking them whether it’s supposed to taste like this lol but I just ate it because I was too much of a coward to say anything icl. ( mistake on my part I admit ) On the other hand, my friend’s steak, which was supposed to be medium rare, came looking rare. like I know I’m not a chef but I feel like it should not look like that like that cow is still mooing bro 💀 we managed to send the steak back and it came back over cooked but we just sucked it up and ate it. We are also not sure if this is an Italy restaurant thing but we got served bread and I asked the lady if it was free because if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t want it. Mediocre food quality, steak served cold, poor service. It doesn’t even deserve one star for service. The cashier is rude and cold. Pizza was burned. Ants on the table and dog roaming around the kitchen. Liqueur was served with a floating insect and when pointed out, no apologies given and was even placed on the bill. Bottled water served already opened. We had an unfortunate incident of finding a piece of glass/hard plastic as I was finishing my child’s food. I actually had to spit it out. I pointed it out to the server, she asked for the piece ‘to show it to the chef’, nobody got back to us. My husband talked to the lady in charge who was so defensive and rude. I asked for the piece back but was told that it was thrown in the bin and that if I wanted it back, she could take the bin out so that the carabinieri or I can dig through it. It was so unprofessional and downright disrespectful. We paid for the entire meal, including the dessert with glass/hard plastic and left feeling insulted. Things could have ended differently if even a simple apology was given. With their bellies full of tourist customers that eat, pay and go, customer service is last of their priority. Run away and spend your money elsewhere, Sorrento has better places to eat that offer a more refined service. This...

The restaurant has a private parking space which is good, the place is well decorated, lots of yellow led lights - giving a welcoming atmosphere. I’m giving 3 stars as being very critic as I’m sure many people would rate 4 and 5. Particularly, I rather go to a place more quiet, with a slower vibe. In here we found a small one person live show, he was playing a keyboard piano and singing - what generates many applauses from the guests. For us (me and my wife) it sounded loud, making the other tables to speak louder and louder killing a pleasant time (again, for our kind of preferences). The food is not special, it’s far from being bad, but for their price and location, we expected something surprising, but it didn’t came. The flavors we’re ordinary. The hostess were polite as well as the attendants, but nothing more than that (all the other restaurants we’ve been so far were so inviting and people enjoying their work). Anyway, my veredic is: not a romantic place, not a foodie place. It’s good for large groups and families (kids has a lot of space to run an play). It’s ok if you’re not meticulous.
