While searching for our hotel right around lunch time, we stumbled upon Pizzeria da Franco; with the hopes of asking for directions and grabbing a bite to eat. Turns out our hotel was right across the street (partly obscured from view by a stone wall); and equally as important, we found a great restaurant! For lunch we had the Tagliare (cold cut) antipasto platter for two, and two big salads. The food was delicious, drink selection was nicely-varied, the atmosphere was great--modern and yet cozy at the same time--and the staff was very friendly. They were patient with our broken Italian--and bailed us out with their much-better English. We were pretty exhausted the next evening, and grabbed a pizza for 2 to take back to the room. The pizza was great--not quite the traditional Napolitano style, but we actually preferred Franco's that didn't have the crust that looks like a bicycle tire! Read moreI recently visited Da Franco Food Philosophy and while the staff were nice, I found the pizza to be just okay. While it wasn't terrible, it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had either.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and cozy, but I wasn't blown away by the food. While I appreciate the restaurant's philosophy of using fresh ingredients and local produce, I didn't feel like it translated into the flavor of the pizza.

Read moreWe tried Franco’s Pizzeria after hearing good things, but our experience was a bit underwhelming. The service was just okay — we had to get the staff’s attention multiple times before being able to order, which made things feel a bit disorganized.
We ordered the Diavola and Capricciosa pizzas. The dough itself was excellent — light and well-prepared — but the overall pizzas were a bit too oily for our taste. We preferred the Diavola, though the spicy salami slices were cut a bit too thick, which threw off the balance of flavors.
Not a bad spot, but for us, it didn’t quite live up...
