This place was recommended by our hotel. As we were quite tired and a bit traumatized after driving the amalfi coast…walking a few 100meters from our hotel seems like a perfect solution.
This place was an extremely pleasant surprise. We had quite a bad experience eating lunch in Amalfi. And this place was a great bounceback.
The place looked very welcoming and fancy. But that was not reflected in the price at all. The service was excellent and we were helped with a smile by the staff.
The hotel mentioned that everything was great and that there specialty was the pizza. To be fair I don’t like restaurants that served pizzas and regular food in 1 restaurant. to me it says ….tourist trap. But even though most of the clientele were tourists….the food didn’t disappoint at all.
In contrary I had a dish here that I consider the best of my trip. Heck I might as well say….best meal of the trip. But that doesn’t say much for this trip to be honest as I we traveled with a group.
As antipasti I chose the seafood salad. That was an amazing mix of 3 salads with Octopus, squid and Shrimp. It tastes so fresh and sweet. I ate it with a huge smile. As a main we chose a pizza. Simple with mushroom ham and mozzarella. It was really good. The pizza bottom was so light. Almost like a roman pizza than a Neapolitan style pizza. The other main was the regional scaliatelli with seafood pasta. I chose this pasta for lunch to and it was quite bad. Luckily this was how it should be. Seafood was super fresh and sweet and the sauce and pasta was super tasty. I really enjoyed it. In Italy we always leave room for desserts and this is when we don’t share. They have extensive choice of desserts in front. My advice is to choose fast or its finish. I had the tiramisu and my wife had a creamy dessert. Tiramisu easy win.
If you stay in this area. Highly recommended. PS also easy...
Read moreMe and my husband went there for dinner and came out extremely disappointed, over an hour later. Upon entering, a surly looking man showed us our tables and took our orders, which finally took over 1 hour to arrive!! We ordered at 9:15pm and finally got our food at 10:30pm!! We had to ask frequently how long it would take and there was no apology on the part of the waiter for having kept us waiting for so long and -shockingly enough, an italian family of 4 who ordered after us were served food within half an hour!! An American family sitting in our close vicinity didn't seem particularly impressed with the service either as we saw one of their party nodding disapprovingly after a conversation with the waiter regarding their order. The pasta and pizza mains that we ordered were mediocre at best and lacking in flavouring. The pizza base tasted soggy and the pasta extremely chewy (different to our experience at other authentic Italian restaurants while holidaying in Capri and Sorrento). After we finished our meals, a non-smiling waiter removed our plates and walked off promptly on other business and just kept us sitting. We contemplated having dessert, not only was the dessert menu not offered to us after our mains, but when my husband attracted the attention of a waiter just walking past right next to our table asking for the dessert menu, he was IGNORED by the waiter completely!! It seemed like the waiter just didn't acknowledge his existence and just walked on!!! Extremely angry and frustrated at the blatantly and UNABASHEDLY RUDE attitude of this restaurant staff towards tourists, we just cleared the bill and left. Never again! Unless you are a native Italian speaker, avoid this place at all costs! There are establishments serving better quality of food and hospitality...
Read moreAnother place a friend of mine recommended to me - well, actually, he just took me there - and I am grateful that he did, because if not, I would have missed yet another place with excellent food. It is not sooo easy to reach - having a car or getting there with a Taxi surely would be helpful - but, once you are there, you know why you "went this extra mile" - the proprietor is a classical Italian Gentleman - very friendly - helpful (in telling you what he would recommend best for the day) The food is just absolutely fresh - comes from the direct surrounding and region - and excellently prepared and served - we had day-fresh Mozzarella (you had the feeling the Buffalo was standing next to you) jus with fresh bread, a bit of real good Olive Oil and a bit of freshly grinded black Pepper (there is nothing else you would need for this) - three freshly grilled Prawns with Parmesan Cheese on top - Home-made Pasta with boletus, fresh "Speck" (actually a German word for Bacon - but the Italians really use the word) and walnuts (Noci di Sorrento - the famous walnuts from the region of Sorrento - they are known all over Italy) - it was just perfect - what a wonderful tase and combination. And as Dessert we had a home-made "piece of (sweet) Art)" - I did not even thought about asking what it actually was - because, after having enjoyed just the look of it - and after having tasted the first spoon - I was just either bewitched or on drugs - it was incredibly delicious!!! What a perfect place to have some pefect food!!!! I surely...
