Absolutely horrible experience. Impolite & unfair staff. We booked a table for 8:30 & got there on time but the host asked us to wait for 5 minutes. We could clearly see that the place was full but we obliged. After 30 minutes we went back & asked for a table & were shown to a table. But a group of girls walked in and were shown to their table as soon as they said they had a reservation. I dont understand why this happened. We missed our bus because of the long wait. For 10 minutes we kept asking someone to take our order but then I got up and called for the server. We ordered the potato gnocchi & ravioli. They were sour & oily and the gnocchi was so lumpy that it was inedible. I have never left behind food & this was the first time I couldn’t finish it even if i tried. We asked the waitress if our table could be cleared because we wanted to try the tiramisu as a saving grace. She saw the food on our plates & was trying to ask what the problem was & we were politely telling her that it probably wasn’t to our taste & thats ok we were already full we didn’t want her to spend any time rectifying it further. She said we don’t have to pay but we insisted on paying & wanted to ask for the tiramisu when mid conversation this other waitress came, took our plates, said “goodnight, ciao ciao”. We were stunned & it was a horrible experience. I am not Italian but I have had pasta in alot of places in & outside of italy & that pasta wasn’t authentic from the sauce to the dough. The cheese was chewy and tasted like cottage cheese instead of ricotta. This felt like a tourist trap where people go for the hype & not for the food & just get drawn to the crowd. I felt it was also very unprofessional to make people wait 30 minutes after taking...
Read moreIncredibly fresh seafood, cheaper prices than at Sorrento proper, outdoor seats fronting the beach, and helpful staff make for an unforgettable experience at this restaurant in the midst of a working fisherman's village. They are always worth the short descent and eventual climb back to Sorrento.
For appetizers, their sauteed mussels were prepared well and simply, beards removed and still sweet as they were unbelievably fresh. Portions were very generous. They served nearly an entire loaf of bread, fresher than most restaurants, which went well with the buttery sauce at the bottom of the plate. Their grilled mixed seafood was delicious, each piece cooked to perfection. The prawn was soft and sweet, the calamari charred wonderfully, and the fish cooked well. Their spaghetti with mixed seafood was just as wonderful, the pasta firm and the sauces from all the seafood (octopus, shrimp, mussels and clam) pooling in the bottom. Don't forget to mix in the cherry tomatoes hanging around separately!
Service was friendly and quick. Sitting outside can be a bit cramped but it does give a good view of the sea. I can imagine this place would be great for watching sunsets as well.
We can't wait to come back and try the other menu items! We highly recommend this place to anyone staying or visiting Sorrento and who won't mind a short walk to incredibly well-cooked, freshly...
Read moreWe found this place kind of by accident intending to visit another restaurant in the harbour. However the family were so charming we simply had to visit.
This is a family run restaurant from four generations of fishermen (as one of the uncles informed me), they pride themselves on serving fresh Italian seafood and their view of the harbour as you done is unbeatable.
The food is very fresh, good value for the area, and the staff are attentive and friendly. Try and arrive early in the evening if you want a table right away, but otherwise one of the family will lead you down the dock to wait, as another will explain the history of the place and what's good that day while you wait! Don't be put off by this as they have a system and you'll be seated from the holding area quite quickly.
I would recommend the risotto, monkfish paccheri, the fried squid and shrimps were delicious, and the wine excellent. So good in fact we abandoned the plans we have for the next night and returned for our final night in Sorrento!
Closed between November and March but otherwise open daily, as one of the waitresses informed me. Definitely give this place a try if you're...
