Radici del Sud was suggested to us and reserved for us by our hotel across the street.
This restaurant has quite the ambiance, from the cordial and relaxed staff, to the food, to the amazing view offered to you when you eat here, no matter where you are on the terrace. You definitely want to come here around sunset. You don't really get the sunset itself. The beauty comes from seeing the darkness set in, and watch Sorrento and the coastal cities around the gulf light up and twinkle as you eat.
The food was very good, and different from what you'd expect in some aspects. My wife had gnocchi, served with zucchini and a rich pesto sauce. Very good. I had their special that night, which was linguine with sea bass, served with yellow and red tomatoes with an oily sauce, equally as delicious.
We had their selection of cheeses (vegetarian version). The jam was good, and it came with some marinated veggies and some honey. This was alright but I was somewhat expecting more than two varieties of cheese.
They also served a lasagna-type of mini-appetizer to all guests that night.
Honestly, this was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic dinner with their significant other. It was so romantic that one couple got engaged that night just a table over....
Read moreWe had high hopes for this restaurant, unfortunately the meal was average with much higher prices compared to the rest of sorrento. Firstly we weren’t allowed to sit out on the terrace looking out over the view which was disappointing as was the reason we visited in the first place along with the good reviews . We both ordered the steak and was probably the most average steak we’ve had and vegetables weren’t even cooked properly and completely over seasoned with balsamic and pretty sure the potatoes with the steak were frozen . We reserved a table for 6:30 and weren’t seated until after 7 which I thought was bad form considering we made a booking . One of the waiters was lovely and pleasant and the rest of the staff were quite unpleasant . Overall for the price and the expectations we were very disappointed as we booked this for our last night...
Read moreWe made a reservation for 1930 on the patio, only to be seated in the corner next to a speaker. Not only could I not hear my date, but I also couldn't enjoy the very beautiful hilltop view of Sorrento. There were several open tables with a better view that remained open for the 90 minutes that we were there. One waiter tried his best to juggle tables, but the majority of wait staff ignored us in favor of other tables. While the appetizers and wine were fairly good, our main courses were just terrible for the price we paid. The tuna was burnt on the outside, the veal unsalted and bland. In my opinion, it is worth paying slightly more at other rooftop restaurants in the area for a...
