We had one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. The wait for food was absolutely unacceptable — well over an hour — while tables around us, who arrived after us, were served promptly. Not a single apology or explanation was offered during that time.

Then came the bill, which was nothing short of outrageous; nearly €100 for 3 persons: six beers, one grilled swordfish fillet, one sandwich, a plate of fried fish, and two tiny portions of vegetables (literally just a few mushrooms and a few sun-dried tomatoes). They even forgot one of the sides we had ordered.

The bill itself felt deliberately confusing, with every item listed under the same generic name so you can’t verify what you’re actually paying for. When I questioned the total, the waitress insisted I had ordered seven beers instead of six, despite other staff confirming I was right. Only after the head waitress recalculated did they admit we’d been overcharged. They refunded €15, but the error was for more than €25 — money we never saw back.

Yes, the head waitress apologized, but by then the damage was done. Prices are not displayed anywhere, so you only find out too late that beers are €6.50 each, and tiny vegetable “sides” cost €8. It feels like a tourist trap.

Between the absurdly long wait, the lack of any accountability, the shady and inflated bill, and the ridiculous prices, this place left us with a very bitter impression. We strongly suspect this treatment was because we were tourists — and reading other reviews later only confirmed our suspicion.

Consigliato da una simpatica vicina, arrivo con la mia ragazza verso le 20 al locale, ancora sgombro. Ordiniamo due panini al pesce e una frittura mista con quattro birre, ci sediamo e attendiamo una ventina di minuti prima di mangiare, direte voi tanto, no per niente. poiché il luogo è suggestivo per la sua semplicità e offre uno sguardo su uno dei piu tranquilli spot panoramici di ortigia, un piacere davvero sorseggiare una birra con quel panorama. E dulcis in fundo il cibo. Il cibo che gentilmente ci portano è di una categoria superiore alle solite fritture turistiche che si mangiano in zona, abbondante profumata e deliziosa al palato (abbiamo mangiato in due e ci sarebbe anche bastato). stessa cosa dicasi dei panini, buoni, abbondanti, pesce fresco e conditi a regola d'arte. Mangiamo entrambi di gusto e ci accorgiamo che sì, siamo davvero sazi, ma senza sentirci affatto appesantiti. 50 euro il conto per due, ben spesi dico io. Penso che sia stata una delle cene di pesce migliori che ho fatto negli ultimi anni sicuramente, e ve lo dice un siciliano, abituato a una cucina casalinga super tradizionale. Trovo che di paninerie friggitorie che offrono un servizio del genere, ne rimangano poche in quel paradiso che è ortigia, dunque non comprendo le critiche che ho letto nelle recensioni, è evidente che se vuoi mangiare nell'ora di punta, con la quantità di gente che c'è, oggettivamente non ti puoi proprio lamentare di qualche ritardo o inconveniente, data la genuinità e qualità della cucina e del luogo. Per me è stata un esperienza magica, ringrazio lo staff e rinnovo i miei complimenti, mi avete fatto sentire come a casa, spero di ritornare...
