We visited Pourquoi Pas almost by accident. It was just around the corner from our hotel and on our last evening we didn't really fancy walking into the main part of town. What a gem we stumbled across. Easily the best meal we had on our 10 day trip. A reassuringly short menu, unlike the usual tourist fare on offer elsewhere. Try the mixed starter plate, it was so well put together with complimenting flavours. The restaurant is owned by a lovely couple. She doing a great job front of house and he working wonders in the kitchen. It doubles as a shop during the day featuring their own designs of all sorts of household items, and us well worth checking out. Can't recommend this place highly...

Truly very friendly waitress. She explained the daily menu to us twice, helped us choose dishes, and divided our portions in half. She also assisted us in selecting a local wine based on our taste. The ambiance is pleasant, subtle, and because the restaurant is not in the strict city center, it's less crowded, which suited us.

The food is very good. With the main course, burrata with poached egg, I would have liked more flavors, and a warning that the dish is served cold. However, what impressed me the most was the dessert, specifically the tiramisu with a divine caramel that was superb.

Prices are very resonable for the food Quality you...

One of the best eating experiences I have ever had!

This was by far the best meal we had during our 2 week stay in Sicily. The restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from Ortigia. The staff were super attentive and took great pride in explaining the menu and recommending different wines based on the dishes we ordered. Prices were also very good for the quality of the dishes

Many of the other restaurants in Ortigia were more geared towards tourists and this was reflected in the overall quality which was average. Take the short walk over to Syracuse itself and go to Pourquoi Pas - you will not be...

We had a hard time choosing - everything looks exceptional and it is ! We've tried shrimp soup, puree with amaranth popcorn, tortelloni with spinach and pasta with safran and sausage (but by the time you read this review the recipes may already have changed as the menu changes regularly) and it was excellent. Very friendly staff, the interior design is exquisite and cocktails are fantastic (we tried pisco sour and basil smash) ! Strongly recommend 👍
