All afternoon we researched for the perfect dinner spot in Taormina. Unfortunately we ended up at Al Duomo. The server did not communicate with my wife at all, she didn't even get to order her own drinks - just got served whatever I was having . This is 2018.
My wife was told she could have a piece of fish on the side to accompany her pasta - but ended up paying full price for two main dishes; not our idea of getting something "on the side". That was an added unexpected 25 Euros for the tuna which in her words were "served like hospital food".
I sadly ordered catch of the day, the lobster, which was served on a mountain of pasta in goopy sauce (exactly not as presented in the delicious food photography). I couldn't eat it - the lobster was not awesome and the sauce was heavy. The price for that was 70 Euros.
Instead of going there we should have gone to Rosso Divino again, just around the corner, where they served us the most delicious and fresh scampi pasta for a fraction of the price.
Yes the view was fine but there was nothing special about the restaurant itself. The vibe in there was not...

I recently dined at this establishment and was left thoroughly disappointed. The pasta dish I ordered featured a sauce that tasted like plain, processed tomato paste—lacking any depth or seasoning. It was so unappetizing that I had to return it.
The service was underwhelming; staff appeared indifferent and inattentive throughout our visit. Adding to the dissatisfaction, we were charged €10 just to sit and another €10 for a beer—prices that felt disproportionate to the quality of both food and service.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements.
Edit: I saw the restaurant replied saying that I probably have a terrible taste and can't distinguish a homemade sauce from a bland store bought sauce. They also blatantly lied saying that I did finish my plate when I returned it almost untouched. Unbelievable! These people should focus on cooking instead trying to discredit unsatisfied...
Read moreWe had the worst dining experience at this restaurant. From start to finish, it was a complete disaster. First, our drinks order was wrong, and it only got worse from there. The food arrived cold and tasted like it was not freshly cooked—definitely not what you expect when you dine out.
We waited over an hour for our main course, and when it finally arrived, it was a complete letdown. To add insult to injury, the prices were outrageous considering the appalling quality of the food and service. We paid 110 euros for just two glasses of wine, a shared starter, and two main courses—absolutely not worth it!
Despite having a booking with a discount via FORK, they didn’t apply it. By the end of the meal, all we wanted was to get out of there. Save your money and your time—this place is...
