May, 25th in 2022 we have returned to this Trattoria, where we have been several times during the last few years.
Today we were shocked because a lot of changes have taking place. Staff has been exchanged.
Prices are much higher and opposite the quality and preparation is poor right now.
After arriving we have received the same Prosecco like the years before.
We also received Bruscietta from the house.
Then we got the menu. The choice is poor and a Wine list is not existing!
We have asked the waitress but she told us that the Wine list is not existing.
5 minutes later the Boss (owner?) appeared and has shown us a different menu with some (!) more wines.
Then we ordered " GRAN CRUDITE" =28 €.
This means Raw Fish, Oysters, Red Shrimp and Fish Tartar.
In addition we ordered a bottle of Red Wine = CHIARAMONTE, NERO D' AVOLA = 35 €.
Then the " GRAN CRUDITE " was served.
Only one instead of OYSTERS=PLURAL, written in the Menu, was served on the poor and very simple looking plate.
The taste of the Fish Tartar was awful. The red shrimps were the smallest size I ever have seen. The taste of the raw fish was poor as well. Even marinated fish was part of it!
The value of money for this meal was poor as well. Finally we made a complaint and the meal got returned.
Then we ordered " INVOLTINO ALLA MESSINESI", = 18 €= Veal with Tomatoes and Cheese.
The taste was below average. The presentation was poor as well. The meat was full of muscles. The potatoes were over boiled.
The second order was "Pasta alla Norma". It has had an average taste.
And we got charged with 14 €.
The Red Wine was average and a bad value for money.
Refilling the wine was self service.
Then we got offered a dessert.
The choice was simple and very small. One of the Desserts was out of stock.
I ordered PANNACOTTA. The portion which was served was - comparing to the Dessert-Card - not looking the same and the size was as small as an ESPRESSO in a cup.
The taste was only like sugar. The price was inaccaptable = 8 € !!!
Finally I have paid 83,50 € including 5 € COPERTO FOR TWO.
My subjective rating:
Ambiance: 2 STARS SERVICE: 2 STARS PRESENTATION OF MEALS: 2 STARS QUALITY AND PREPARATION OF MEALS: 2 STARS PRICE AND VALUE FOR MONEY: 2...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience at Trattoria Don Ciccio! The food was absolutely excellent – full of flavor and beautifully prepared. It’s tucked away on a quiet side street, which gave it a peaceful, intimate atmosphere, and the view was simply breathtaking. We were especially grateful to find it open during the afternoon hours when most restaurants are typically closed – a lifesaver!
The service was outstanding – warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The relaxing ambiance, complemented by lovely background music, made it a perfect dining spot.
If you’re dining with family or a group, definitely try the antipasti platter. Our family of three shared it, and it was more than enough. The aubergine and cheeses were especially good!
Highly recommend for anyone...
Read moreWe came across Don Ciccio by chance and were so glad we found it. It was an oasis away from the mass of people dining and walking on Corso Umberto. It is located on a quiet side street where there is shaded outside seating and a slight view down to the sea. Our waiter was exceptional. We loved the food. I had the ravioli Don Ciccio and caprese salad and both were delicious. The chef appears to take great pride in his work and personally came out to check on our (and other patrons') meals. I would recommend Don Ciccio's to anyone who needs a break from the crowds and wants a delicious, well...
