Koko Sushi — Restaurant in Trieste

We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We came as a family — one of us is vegetarian — and kindly asked if two of us could take the set menu, while the vegetarian could order à la carte (as the vegetarian options were extremely limited).

The response was surprisingly rude: we were told we had to sit at different tables if we wanted to order differently. We explained we were a family and simply wanted to dine together, but the waitress answered coldly and rigidly, then turned around and walked away without offering any alternative.

Any rule can be communicated with respect, especially if you care about your customers and the image of your restaurant. Something like: "I'm sorry, I understand your situation, but unfortunately we have this policy" would’ve been enough. A little kindness would have made all the difference.

The place itself was another disappointment: the room was dark and gloomy, nothing like the bright, cozy photos shown online. The restaurant is hidden in a shadowy side street near the main square — not welcoming at all.

And the waitress… instead of greeting us, she walked around as if annoyed by our very presence, almost irritated that tourists dared to enter. There were barely any locals — a red flag in itself.

We left without even trying the food.

Sono andato a mangiare ieri sera, è la seconda volta che vado ed è la seconda volta che trovo problemi, personale scortese, la prima volta andammo in 3 e mangiammo in 2 (con tanto di coperti tolti alla ragazza che non mangiava) e le hanno fatto pagare il coperto, ieri hanno solo saputo guardarmi male, quasi lanciarmi i piatti sul tavolo e rispondermi male, ho chiesto se avessero dei dolci e la cameriera faceva finta di non sentire, appena le ho chiesto la seconda volta dei dolci mi ha risposto seccata e alzando il tono “puoi aspettare un attimo” hanno visto male un numero di un piatto, hanno portato un piatto differente da quello ordinato e la cameriera voleva che lo mangiassimo lo stesso, seccata quando lo ha dovuto riportare indietro, alla fine mi arriva la lista dei dolci e sembrava quasi una presa in giro, qualsiasi cosa ordinavo non c’era, 2 dolci su 6, avevo l’impressione che non avessero nemmeno voglia di farmi i dolci dato il comportamento strano, lavoro in ristorazione da 6 anni, sono stato capo sala. Questo è tutto tranne che un ottimo servizio, cibo passabile (oltre ai calamari che fra 3 persone nessuno è riuscito nemmeno ad ingoiarli per quanto fossero gommosi) mi è stata rovinata la serata, mai avuto un’esperienza così orribilante in un sushi, non ci tornerò e assolutamente non lo consiglio (il menù cena dovrebbe essere 22.90 ma invece è 24.90...
