La Pizza Di Cittavecchia Di Marzi Ervino — Restaurant in Trieste

Came with a friend, ordered a couple pizzas.

Mine came folded in two, with the pizza "toppings" on the inside. To this day I don't know if it was a practical joke or a well-known Italian tradition associated with that particular pizza (the name of which I cannot remember), however it certainly should have been written on the menu.

The pizzas were good; nothing exceptional but definitely very enjoyable, decent portions, good ham (to my untrained tongue). Folded pizzas it turns out are messy and hard to eat.

Prices were pretty good; I paid 8€ for mine, and my friend paid 7.50€ for his. However, when we received the bill, we were astonished to see a 3€ service fee - 1.5€ per person - added mandatorily. This had not been mentioned anywhere in the menu nor had they informed us of its existence prior to being presented with the bill. Additionally, this enforced 16% "tip" was for service that had been standard or mediocre in every aspect.

Do not come here, the prices aren't as low as they seem, and the food is not worth...

Looking at the reviews, I chose this place, which is further away from the tourist area, hoping for real Italian pizza. What a disappointment, starting with a 20 minute wait for a pizza when there were only two people in the pizzeria, the waiter was kind. The dough was like bread, I asked for diavolo and the sausage was not spicy but some cheap ordinary one, he just gave me spicy olive oil. Tiramisu improved the impression a little, only the cream was in it. He automatically charged me 1.5 euros for the service. Cheap food and in the end he will take from you in...

The quality of pizza in Italy is always a question of individual philosophy and is often discussed emotionally. In Triest, Pizza de Cittavecchia is my personal favourite. Very yummy and fresh ingredients, and you even have a choice of different doughs (five-grains or bio kamut). It's just a few steps outside of the tourist area, right next to Piazza Hortis, but feels much more like a visit to a local neighborhood... The ambience is nothing to write home about, but is well compensated by...
