SET - Sapori Eccellenti del Territorio — Restaurant in Trieste

Since my brother-in-law and his wife love this place, they invited us here for breakfast on our last day of our trip to Trieste.

This is a bar but also a store located on a pedestrian zone close to the heart of the city: due to the difficulty of finding a parking space, I would recommend you reach it via public transportation or by foot. It is small and simple but with a nice layout and décor; you can seat inside or on their outdoor patio.

They specialize in products and dishes from the local cuisine. Here you can order panini, or toasts, or charcuterie, or bakery products; you can have coffee, but also an aperitivo, or wine. They also have a wide variety of cheeses.

Everything looked so good that I wished I had a bigger stomach! I had a panino with cheese and prosciutto and a croissant with pistachio, which were very good – same for my cappuccino.

The staff was great too, and very friendly; prices are decent.

Next time I’m in Trieste, I’ll definitely stop by again and try...

“Acquolinica” esperienza. Mi piace il motto che campeggia sul loro sito. Da turista non posso che completarlo a mio vantaggio: “Assaggia come non hai mai assaggiato prima, scopri il tuo territorio come non l’hai mai conosciuto”+ “…..anche se non è il tuo territorio”. Non ci siamo fatti pregare neanche una volta e abbiamo colto al volo le proposte dei “valorizzatori”, guardiani del buon cibo con la passione di promuovere enogastronomia a km 0 a supporto delle piccole produzioni con l’inevitabile proposta di prodotti tradizionali del Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Una egregia sintesi, prima visiva e poi gustativa, è certamente il tagliere di salumi e formaggi per 4 persone. Il misto di salumi e formaggi è l’espressione massima di sapienza gastronomica e abbinamento ricercato. Senza pecche, le mattonelle di polenta con sopra baccalà mantecato e adagiate su una insalata di olive, pomodorini e misticanza. Set - Bottega & Bistrot nella città vecchia di Trieste rappresenta un contenitore di eccellenze qualificandosi essa stessa come eccellenza. Degustati anche il panino “Tolmezzo” con salsiccia alla piastra, formaggio Latteria fresco, rucola, aceto balsamico e il panino “Sutrio” con prosciutto crudo dolce, caciotta fresca, rucola, olio. Liza and Norma walked 39 steps ( nothing to do with John Buchan ) and spotted this lovely deli shop come cafe. A treasure trove of local food and drink. To avoid more crisps we ordered a 12€ mixed cheese and meat platter to go with Aperol Spritz at 5€ each. Away from the road so lost scooter noise. Very enjoyable spot to let the world go by. Food superb. If only the Italians had a phrase for La dolce vita. Sit inside at rear or people...
