I went to Bifrò a couple of times during a recent stay in Turin in September, upon the recommendation of a friend: I did not even know about this place before then. I was very, very impressed. Everything works to perfection here: decor, service, food and wine all participate in delivering a perfect - perfect - dining experience. To me, this is the best steakhouse I have ever tried east of Don Julio in Buenos Aires!
I will not even dwell too long on the steaks. We had a few over the course of a couple of meals (Kobe beef; Black Angus Pantano dry-aged for 90 days; a Spanish wagyu dry-aged for over 40 days, etc.) and they were all expertly cut and prepared by co-owner Roberto, a true grill master: absolutely delicious. But if you go to Bifrò do not overlook the non-steak dishes: they are all tremendous and this is all the more impressive in a restaurant that is principally focused on its steak offering. Also, the wine program - under the expert and knowledgeable direction of sommelier Federico (I hope I recall his name correctly) - is just beyond belief! The depth and variety of wines on offer is remarkable. I think that Bifrò has the most impressive non-Italian wine offering on its list that I have seen in Piedmont (besides a lot of fantastic Piedmontese and Italian wines)! You will find some real gems on the list and at prices that are not egregious, as is often the case in some other places that do not even provide you with a wine choice comparable to the one at Bifrò.
All of the above is augmented by an impeccable, professional, yet friendly and agreeable service (under the direction of co-owner Laura; and of Giovanni and Nicola).
I could not recommend this place more. If you happen to be in Turin and fancy a fabulous steak you must try Bifrò at...
Read moreThis is the best steak I had in my life time. I have visited high-end steak houses in NYC, San Fran. This Italian experience stands out in all of my past steaks. I got a Vacca Del Parmigiano, it was recommended by the head wait staff based on my past experience of American beef. I am here on business trip, I stumbled on this place by luck, I loved it! I now have to spend the rest of my life chase this beef high. if you are in this area, come here at least once. Price is higher than normal, but the taste is far superior in every way imaginable.
updated May 4th 2022 It is official, this place has just ruined me! they sold me a kilo of incrocio spagna, I was told it is THE Spaniards porter house, aged 90 days. The taste knocked my lights out. Tender beyond belief, flavor is rich and complex like no steak I ever had, pair that with a glass of red recommended by the wait staff, the satisfaction is absolute. I know full well I will never be able to top this for the rest of my adult life, I don't know if I can ever order a steak at any other restaurant. The master chef gifted me with a starter of beef tartar made with a Spanish ribeye aged 120 days, it was so dry it was dark and cracking on the outside, but tender and burst with flavor on my plate. This is a night to remember and all other steak experience to be measured against. The master chef is like the Leonardo DaVinci of the grill, a true Italian master. The dinner was so pricy that I can not claim it on my business travel meal expense, but I would have gladly paid more for it out of my own bank account. Once in a life time experience you owe to yourself. if you have steak on your bucket...
Read moreThe restaurant unfortunately did not live up to the reviews. We were hoping for something special but the whole experience was mediocre at an extremely high price. You are forced to order 1.2 kilos steaks (at the very least) priced at 10 euros per 100 grams at the very least so maths is quickly done. The staff are overly attentive, constantly hovering around asking if everything is ok, wearing white trainers and in-ear radios which is unnecessary and pretentious. The effect leads to an awkward atmosphere where people are talking in hushed tones. The lighting doesn't help as it's too bright and lacks thought. Overall we wouldn't go back there. We are used to high prices for great food and atmosphere experiences but in this case the cost is not...
