Piola 1706, Torino — Restaurant in Turin

Absolutely stunning! Having dinner here is a must-do when in Torino! This is a traditional piola, serving local dishes with a high quality. To start, I absolutely adored the antipasto Vitello Tonnato; the combination of different flavours all together is incredible! We took the menu degustazione (for two), so we had a 3 course meal. The primo piato was the Agnolotti del Plin with butter and lavender, which were so tasty! Next, was pork with baked onions in sauce (I forgot the name of the dish), which was also super delicious - the meat was so well prepared, it was melting in the mouth. Regarding beverages, we had to try the local wine - Barolo, and it is so flavoursome! The ambience is like from a movie - we sat outside, so we admired a nice square and church. The service is super polite and attentive. All in all, I couldn’t recommend more this place, both for the food...

I went here on my final evening in Torino and it certainly ended my visit on a high.

I was lucky to get a table, as I got there early in the evening and was there by myself - definitely worth booking in advance if your situation is different.

I had the tagliolini, red onion tarte tatin and bonet, but it seems that the menu changes pretty often. I'd checked a menu from three months prior and there were a few differences. Best not to have your heart set on a particular dish, but you won't be disappointed regardless of what's on offer for your visit.

Ho provato questo locale, dietro consiglio di un collega, perché avevo voglia di un po' di cucina piemontese. Si trova in centro, non lontano da piazza Valdo Fusi. Parcheggiare non è immediato in zona, mettere in conto di fare anche una passeggiatina. Il ristorante è di medie dimensioni con disponibilità di un dehor che in estate non guasta. La cucina è a vista, l'arredamento è semplice ma ben studiato e accogliente. Il menù non è vasto, ma è una cosa che apprezzo spesso perché meglio fare poche cose ma buone. I piatti proposti fanno parte della tradizione piemontese come ci si aspetta da una piola che si rispetti. Per essere la prima volta che ci andavo ho scelto di prendere il menù degustazione per provare la qualità della cucina. Le portate sono tre ( Vitello tonnato della piola e battuta di Fassone, Gnocchi di patate al Castemagno con granella di nocciola, Brasato alla Barbera con polenta), più dolce (gelato con zabaione), acqua e caffè. Il vino è a parte e noi abbiamo optato per un Dolcetto della casa. Tutto buono ed ingredienti di qualità. Il brasato era morbidissimo, ben cotto. Gli gnocchi niente male. Abbiamo amato lo zabaione del dolce :). A livello personale l'unico appunto che mi viene da fare è che ho trovato che alcuni piatti potevano essere "spinti" un pochettino di più, perché alcuni assaggi li ho sentiti troppo delicati. Comunque resta un mio giudizio e mi spinge solo a tornare per provare anche il resto. Il servizio è stato molto apprezzabile, caratterizzato da gentilezza e attenzione. I prezzi, nella media del periodo, sono compatibili con la qualità delle materie prime e della preparazione. Il menù costa 28 euro, vino escluso. Le quantità sono buone, ma questo dipende da quanto si è abituati a mangiare. In definitiva esperienza positiva, ma mi riservo di tornarci per provare anche altri piatti che...
