ERIA - Cinque Petali — Restaurant in Turin

My wife and I had been excited to visit this restaurant for many months due to the positive reviews and beautiful location. However, the experience was severely disappointing. The food ordering process felt much like a delivery app with basically no interaction with the staff (who were friendly enough but we barely had any interaction with them apart from 'grazie') add on top of that 2,5EUR service charge which felt insulting.

Atmosphere was straight up weird. We had Garth Brookes style country music blasting out of a cheap portable speaker and one of the waiters huge dog wandering among the tables. Both of us are not dog people so this really was pretty annoying. While the setting was relatively serene, having some Tennessee middle aged man whine about his country being taken over by the liberal elites really took away the feeling of being in downtown Damascus.

Apart from the starter - pretty decent hummus and babaganoush variations - everything felt cheap. The dishes were garnished with bag-salad. The dishes were wildly overpriced for the contents. In general, nothing felt fresh at all; from the bread to the meat, it all felt like it was from a discount store.

I’m very particular about my coffee, and I’m one of those weirdos that likes milk added in (but without lactose). During my time in Torino, I’ve found a lot of coffee to be too strong, or on the bitter side.

The coffee at Eria has the perfect flavour to it, leaning more to the sweet side of the palate.

Besides the coffee, the people who work here all seem like wonderful humans, with great energy and smiles.

And... as a bonus, there is always a dog or two hanging around! Definitely a perk when you’re missing your own dogs back at home while on...

Iniziamo dalle cose positive: una bellissima terrazza veramente incantevole (la parte superiore, perché la parte inferiore sembra un magazzino a cielo aperto), moltissime opzioni vegetariane molto apprezzate e gusto ottimo di praticamente quasi tutti i piatti. Ci sono però tantissime cose da migliorare, forse perché i ragazzi che lo gestiscono sono molto giovani e poco esperti. Al buffet della domenica, non siamo state avvisate che avrebbero ritirato il buffet dopo una certa ora, per cui abbiamo fondamentalmente mangiato un piatto e basta (la mia amica ha fatto presente che se l'avessero detto saremmo scese prima, visto che non eravamo vicino al buffet e da dive eravamo non lo vedevamo, ma non abbiamo avuto nessuna risposta); il cameriere ha apparecchiato senza nemmeno pulire il tavolo prima, abbiamo dovuto dirglielo noi, per avere il tè che era a disposizione dovevamo scendere noi perché nessuno veniva al nostro tavolo in terrazza, il cameriere ci ha detto che i dolci erano inclusi invece non era vero; le opzioni con la carne, abbiamo dovuto chiederle noi perché il cameriere non le ha nemmeno menzionate e le abbiamo viste nel tavolo di altri. Per le pietanze calde come i falafel o le focaccine al formaggio, mangiarle fredde fa perdere molto del loro gusto, sarebbe più logico e proficuo avere dei contenitori termici o riscaldarli ogni tot. L'accesso al buffet è complicato, se c'è gente ai tavoli, perché hanno messo troppi tavoli per la capienza e non hanno considerato di metterne anche uno in terrazza, magari più piccolo, perché così obbligano la gente a dover scendere tutto il tempo, anche solo per bere il tè.
