We traveled to Turin for the weekend for a friends wedding and on Sunday before we leave for the airport we went to this place to get a nice pizza that was recommended by an Italian friend. Indeed the pizzas were very good, we liked a lot. However, the service was very bad unfortunately! I don't know if because we were foreigners or because the waitresses were very young and just wanted to finish their shift and leave! We arrived at 14h20 and the first setence from her mouth when we asked for a table was "Yes but we close at 15h!"..this was rude already, but we stayed because we couldn't believe they would basicaly kick us out at 15h sharp. At 14h50 we finished our pizzas and both waitresses were at the door looking at the street counting the seconds to close the door. When they finally turned around, one of them (we think was the manager that day) passed by us without even looking at us, we called the other to ask for a tiramissu to share, she said ok but then came saying "we can't serve because we close at 15h"! So we explained we would be fast, and it was our last day in Turin, we really wanted to try a tiramissu in Italy before we leave. At this point it was 14h55 and she came back and said no to us again. So we left very sad with this experience and feeling unwanted and kicked out! I truly hope the girl that was the manager that day and didn't have the courage to say "no, we won't serve you anything else" to our face gets to read this review to understand how that maked us feel! And I hope the owner is a more experienced person that understands that even the greatest pizza can taste like the worst when the waitresses show no empathy for...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Uâo known for its authentic Neapolitan pizza, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The pizza arrived with a beautifully charred crust, a hallmark of the traditional wood-fired oven used in its preparation. The crust was airy and light, yet perfectly chewy, with a subtle smoky flavor that only such an oven can impart.
The sauce was a simple yet flavorful blend of the perfect tomatoes, offering a the right balance of sweetness and acidity. The fresh Fior Di Latte mozzarella melted into creamy pools atop the sauce, complemented by a scattering of fresh basil leaves. A light drizzle of olive oil added a hint of richness without overpowering the other ingredients.
What truly stood out was the harmony of flavors and textures. Each bite was a delightful combination of the crispy yet tender crust, the tangy tomato sauce, and the creamy cheese, with the basil providing a fresh, aromatic note. The pizza stayed true to the minimalist yet deeply satisfying nature of Neapolitan pizza.
Overall, this pizza was a testament to the beauty of simplicity and high-quality ingredients. It transported me straight to Naples, if only for a meal, and left me eager to return for...
Read moreStepping into UÂO Pizza in Turin, I was immediately drawn by the warm welcome from the owner. He took the time to chat with me, genuinely listening to my preferences. This experience wasn't just about ordering pizza; it was about crafting a culinary journey. He suggested a unique combination of tomato sauce, sweet chili, eggplant, broccolini, sweet onions, and fresh basil.
When I took my first bite of the pizza, it was sublime. The ingredients melded perfectly, creating a smooth, mouth-watering sweetness that defied the absence of cheese. All this came at just EUR 13 for the pizza and two drinks! Sitting there, enjoying each flavorful bite, I couldn't help but wish for a tad more crunch in the crust. However, given its authentic Neapolitan style, that might be a lot to ask.
Overall, the visit was a memorable blend of delightful flavors and genuine hospitality—a must-visit for any pizza lover in Turin. It’s no surprise that the restaurant finds its place on the 50...
