If you really want a good ramen in Udine, this is the place. Also because the town is still a bit behind and people here mainly associate Japanese food just with sushi (that is not even good in the restaurants in town), or to Chinese food. Ramen is actually a Chinese dish - that has been "adopted" by Japan alongside others dishes such as Gyoza and Baos for example for the last 500 years. When we went there it was pretty dead and the music was a bit weird (American pop songs) which ruined a bit the atmosphere. I had the miso ramen whereas my husband had the spicy one. Both they were really good. I read suggestions of offering kids menu and I am not entirely sure it will work as in Japan kids eat the same things of their parents (maybe is smaller portions) so if anything I will just offer a smaller size or maybe katsu curry fo them. I would not "ruin" the concept of a ramen bar, but maybe I will just make it clear that a Ramen place is not a full traditional Japanese restaurant where you can find everything. I agree there were no desserts to chose from (ie. traditional or ice cream mochi) however I would suggest to just make it more clear in their ads or even by their waiters that this is a ramen place, not an Izakaya or a Japanese restaurant. I think in Udine this place can work with a...
Read moreThey did it (on my second visit): Gave me Standard Chinese Noodles (Mie or similar) instead of real Ramen noodles. What an disapointment. I have eaten twice here and i am sorryy to give a bad vote. But you cannot offer something different than Ramen noodle and just not tell the customer. Its like telling me I am an ignorant and would not know the difference.
On my first visit the Ramen noodle was original and tasty-perfect. Otherwise I wouldn't have returned.
I am to timid to complain immediately (guests at neigbour table) and make a scene. When leaving and paying at the Front cashier I asked them why my Spicy Miso Ramen Was without Ramen noodles? Answer: If I want the original White Ramen I need to tell them before. And if I understood right: the Original Ramen noodle was out.
Come on...you need to tell me when I order... Not I need to ask for Ramen Noodle when ordering Miso Ramen in a Ramen restaurant.
Beside this the Ramen would be really a noticable nice composition with different condiments. Unfortunately the Miso is quite thin - wattery. and thus not authentic neither.
Sorry I came twice and really regreted the second visit. Also a no-go: They served me a japanese beer in the tin at the...
Read moreAfter 8 months of living in Italy, we finally found a very good ramen place! The noodles are authentic and the flavors are just on point! For appetizers, we ordered takoyaki (6pcs) and chicken karaage (it is not the usual chicken karaage as the pieces were big but to our surprise, it was so juicy and cooked in the inside. It was really tasty. The breading was not overwhelming.) The chicken came with fermented ginger which tasted like homemade. We also had tantanmen and tonkotsu ramen. The broth was really delicious and the noodles are legit! The servings were really big and i think it can be shared by two. The customer service was great too. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Im really glad it's just a 45-minute drive from our home! Will definitely come back and try out some...
