Went back for lunch and wow did we have two fantastic dishes out of the three chosen. They had a starter dish with an eggplant and melted pecorino cheese and the eggplant was done up like a pate in the inside. That dish and the flavors were outstanding - one of the best dishes we have had on our entire trip. The Burrata starter dish with crumbled mini croutons was also fantastic. Two WOW dishes. The Pici pasta main dish was fresh pasta and it tasted like it. The dish did not have any meat but the pasta and red sauce was very good. This restaurant is one of the best and a top 3 in all of Montepulciano and when you add there service and convenience and atmosphere it is even closer to the top spot to experience when in Montepulciano.
First dinner review from tasting menu. We chose the 6 plate tasting menu and I would give the entire six course an above average rating. The guinea fowl could have used just a bit more flavor but the included vegetables and hazelnut mayonnaise were on point. The second dish had taken shrimp and cut up into a thin circular carpaccio look. Kind of creative but the celery foam was a miss. I guess it was a lack of flavor again. Celery does not have much flavor but is crunchy. The issue is it was blended into an airy foam so there was of course no crunchiness which meant a void of flavor. The third dish was fantastic. A puffed shell placed around a lasagna with goose meat pate – incredible. The fourth dish was a fantastic tagliolini with I think a scallop on top. The Deer filet was above average and needed salt/flavor and the dessert was creative. In summary it was this restaurant that allowed us to realize we like a la cart ordering off the menu versus...
Read moreI have nothing but great things to say about the restaurant. However, I will never again do business here at the wine club/store. My friend, daughter and I purchased wine to be shipped back home to Arizona for my friend and PA for myself and my daughter. We were told that we could expect to receive our wine in 10 business days. It has now been 20 business days and 2 different excuses as to why we haven’t received our wine. When I contacted them on the 15th business day I was told that the producer was out of stock and our wine would be shipped shortly. Then I was contacted and asked to pass on my friend’s email address because she canceled her order via her Amex and they wanted to know if she still wanted her order before the shipped it. I stated at that time that I was concerned with my own order as well. It was at that time that I got the second excuse that because of flooding that had recently taken place that the entire town shuts down to lend a helping hand.that struck me as very odd because they are certainly open to check on canceled orders. I am also sure that because my daughter gave €200 towards our order and the rest was on a credit card that they aren’t quite as concerned because at least they have an unearned €200 even if I do cancel the credit card portion of our tab. The saddest part is that I have 5 people that wanted to begin to get bi monthly shipments from them. I welcome them to challenge my claims so that I can share our email correspondences....
Read moreWe had only planned to spend one night in Montepulciano however, upon finding it such a charming city and deserving of more exploration we stayed for two. My nose selected this charming restaurant upon passing it multiple times while unloading from our car parked just outside the city gates. Whatever the aroma, I knew that that first night we would be eating there. We had one of, if not the, most wonderful dining experiences that first night. The freshness of the fried zucchini flowers was very distinguishable from ones we had had in Rome earlier in our trip. A porcini ravioli was just incredible. Our main course, a filet sourced from a nearby farm and absolutley drowning in white truffle shavings was simply divine. This entree, combined with the wonderfully welcoming and engaging host, Andrea, and staff brought us back to this restaurant for our second night's meal in Montepulciano. As is best to do in Italy, we ate at as many different restaurants as possible during our short stay in Montepulciano however, this was by far and away the greatest of them all. Sure, some had better views, or even better locations but the food and service of this particular restaurant was superb and we regretted nothing by returning to it for a second dinner. Many...
