There were five in my group and we stopped in for a bite. The two women at the counter were very rude and unfriendly. It was obvious they were talking about us in Italian to other customers in line bc they laughed and all looked over at us. They were rude to another couple in line and that couple walked out. We should have left, too. The women gave my parents and their friends a hard time as they tried to order. They were intentionally rude and made ordering difficult like it was some kind of game. I got my food and sat at a table outside while I waited for the rest of my group. Out of nowhere a man started yelling at me for moving my stool. It was crazy! I thought he was just a random man but he said he was the store owner. He went on and on and on about not moving the tables and the stools. He yelled that he doesn't come to my house and rearrange the furniture and I shouldn't do it as his home. He started rearranging the three sets of tables and chairs and yelling at me for moving them which I had not done. Evidently they were moved around before I sat down but he accused me of doing it. It was weird behavior and kinda scary. I just kept saying "okay" and "thank you" so he would stop and go away. I felt verbally assaulted by him. He was unhinged. Then later one of the counter ladies came out and yelled at us for where one of the tables was located. The guy moved all the tables and then we got yelled at again for moving tables we never moved. I don't write reviews and I have NEVER left a one star review ever. But no one should give their money to this establishment. There are many wonderful places in Venice to eat. Spend your money at those places. Not here. The food wasn't...
Read moreNot a good place for families with small children! My five-year-old needed the loo, so we went inside the shop to buy something small for him to be able to use it. We got a small pastry and a bottle of water as neither me nor my husband were hungry and my son would not eat what was available. He was tired and difficult (as many small children would be after a long day walking around Venice) and wanted to have some of the melon (his favorite fruit) we managed to buy from another shop for the first time in our trip. I allowed him to have it while we were in this branch of Majer and one of the servers (the one with the glasses) was very rude in how she acknowledged the situation, enforcing that “was not normal”, for obvious reasons, in a very shameful manner. I totally get the point of the business here – you should only eat things you bought from them in their premises – but I also believe that showing some empathy towards small children (who cannot quite fully grasp the world, especially when they are tired) and general customers with specific needs (if and when you have the time and the space) is also a great business strategy. We had purchased something after all and it was not busy – we were not preventing them from making any more money and we were not giving them any extra work.. We left the shop in a very emotional tone and my five-year-old could then finish his melon (which took him 2 minutes) outside, sitting on the pavement. We had an awful experience in this branch! I should mention we had a great and welcoming experience in the branch around Piazzale Roma tough (which was the only reason we went into this specific shop in...
Read moreWe came to eat here one morning. The place is very nice, with a cozy atmosphere although pretty small. The have a huge variety of sweet things, panini and croissants. Everything good until we tried to order. One of the 2 women who were there, one with some eastern - European accent, already had an altercation with a guy who tried to speak italian: "Speak with me English, stop that Italian. I can't understand your Italian" said her to the poor guy. He ordered something on English, she commented again something an so on... After the guy left she came to me. I ordered on English of course but it still wasn't good. "Which one?! How many one more time??" I told her again. She looked at me as she was seeing a bug. "Are you eating here or you wanna them to go?" I already had told her that I want everything to go. I tell her one more time. She still doesn't do anything "Are you speaking Russian?! You can speak Russian with me, I understand very good" I tell her that I don't know Russian and that I'm in a hurry. She turns to the other woman: "He doesn't want to speak his language, I know he speaks Russian"... I tell her that I'm actually from Romania and I'm lucky: the other woman is from Romania as well, she takes over and everything goes smooth further. That's why I gave 1 star... The products are very tasty, nothing to complain about this but I will never come back as long as the crazy Russian / Ukrainian / Belarusian works there Hope the boss reads this. It...
