Service: ||||Extraordinarily gracious and welcoming staff, truly excellent customer service without being overly formal. A perfect example of lovely hosting.||||Enormous breakfasts were brought daily at a prearranged time and the staff were very accommodating when we needed to change the delivery time one morning due to our schedule. ||||I would absolutely stay here again on my next visit, it truly felt like a little oasis. ||||||Room: ||||The rooms are spacious and include a small entry room with a divan. The decor is grand and theatrical and a bit mysterious (those are always compliments coming from me, make no mistake) with upholstered walls, damask for days, and all the gold trim your heart desires (my heart desires quite a lot of gold trim, your heart may vary.) ||||There was no bidet, which is a small shortcoming, but the bathroom was tidy and the water pressure was delightfully thunderous.||||||Location: ||||The location was wonderful, far enough away from the most crowded areas but still within easy walking distance of almost everywhere and the vaporetto stop is very nearby.||||There is noise from the square, but it wasn’t obtrusive and for me it enhanced the stay to hear the daily life of the district - this is a square where children play, church bells toll, and street musicians busk. If you prefer a more insulated and silent hotel stay, this may not be the place for you. ||||Our room (Casanova) had a stunning view of the Church of San Giacomo dell’Orio.||||The hotel itself has a very private, almost secluded feel. We rarely passed other guests in the common areas and there was no noise leak from the halls. ||||There’s a grocery store just across the square and it was very convenient to grab a few staples for the mini fridge...
Read moreThe staff are very friendly (a lady and a gentleman). The lady brings the breakfast to your room in the morning at the time your chosen. The breakfast was so good (continental). The room, though is a little small(reminds me of NYC, and in all big city they're like that) but is super clean. The bathroom fixture is all modern. The beds and sheets are super comfy. The room is immaculate. They have three stories, each story has about 3 rooms, a big hall/sitting/common area, a kitchen/storage room (not for guest use). Note the building doesn't have an elevator but it wasn't a problem for us. The stair had bright LED lighting that also has automatic shutoff feature. The building was built in late 1800's but everything feels brand new and modern. The paint job on those heavy room doors is just incredibly professionally done. It's obvious the owner spent a lot of money investing in it. Love it. Another thing is they might have mosquitoes in the room, and they may come from the garden below. We just kill the mosquitoes and then keep the windows closed (very quiet room AC works really well). I think only in the U.S. we don't have mosquitoes indoors since we use screens to keep them out, and we get so used to it. In other parts of the world (such as almost all third world counties, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Germany, and now Italy, etc) they don't use screens so mosquitoes inevitably get in. Overall we're very happy and will stay here again if we visit Venice again. Oh, finally, it's a short walk to water bus orange line (from the airport) and water bus #1 and 2. #1 goes to the train station and rental car/main bus...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night and thought it was lovely. The rooms are beautifully decorated to a high standard, the fabric walls and the waterfall shaper were the highlight. The only downside was that the view from the balcony was purposefully obstructed by plants as it overlooked the neighbours so good for a drink outside but not for photos or taking in the view. The host was lovely and helped us check in at 1 even though we were early for check in time. Breakfast is served in the rooms as there is no dining space. We like to dine privately so not a problem at all only downside is you have to pre-book what time you want breakfast delivered so less flexible. Breakfast was bread, meat and cheese a yogurt, coffee and juice so a little limited and we were hungry quickly after. I think hotels like this should let guests preorder what the want for breakfast to avoid wastage and ensure the customers are happy. Just a recommendation. ... |Overall my husband and I agreed that we would be happy to stay there again should we...
