I'm not one to write reviews but this restaurant deserved its 5 star review. We want everyone to discover this restaurant. Osteria ca' del Vento is truly the Best restaurant in Venice poss Europe! We saw the review in the rough guide book for Venice and the reviews were excellent . It’s just off the beaten track near the Zattere/ San Basilio vaporetta stop. It’s off the main drag which is welcome after the heavily populated busy, touristy areas. An exceptional family-run business is what a traveller dreams of, with so much care taken with sourcing the ingredients of the highest quality and flavour. We cannot praise this restaurant enough nor those that run it. The people that work here are welcoming and take such pride and delight in their menu and feeding you. We chose this as it had some good vegetarian options as well as fish , meat and pasta. Well let me say that the food here is some of the best we have eaten in the world and our family are well travelled. We started with the Aubergine Parmagiana it was melt in your mouth, homemade tomato sauce and the most delicious burata cooked in the oven with basil. We were desperate for the recipe! My daughter (a vegetarian) chose the linguine pesto with green beans and potato she was blown away by the dish’s exceptional flavour. I had the monkfish cooked in potato and tomato which had the most incredible flavour, we cancelled all other restaurants we booked for the duration of our stay so that we could come to this restaurant every night. The fillet of beef with roast potatoes was the highest quality beef tender and beautifully seasoned, again the flavour was divine. I wish we had also ordered the tomato pasta with fish as the table next to us was enjoying this dish with gusto. I would seriously come back to Venice just to eat here to try everything on the menu. Everything is Reasonably priced for the incredible quality and flavour. If you are a true foodie this is the place for you. I wanted to shout at passers by to come and eat here to not miss out on Venice’s best kept secret . So if you are in the Zaterre / campini/ Dorsodou area this is a must visit . You will not regret it! Oh and don’t forget to order the Tiramisu if it’s on the menu you’ll can be sure you'll be back for more, I promise ( I honestly can't stop thinking about how tasty the food is here) . Our dinner was washed down with a crisp glass of processco . Please go you will...
Read moreOur last meal in Venice, sadly the least good. Do not get lamb chops. Overcooked and thin. Pasta with seafood was salty. Orecchiette was just plain weird, with overcooked broccolini and some odd bland veggie purée and undercooked bacon. Totally unlike anything I’d ever eaten. Not inedible, just not good. Mussels appetizer was ok but not good or bad and in an unexciting thin white garlic wine broth. Just … ok. The grilled octopus app and parsley potatoes side dish were nice. I’d recommend those for sure. Not a lot of choices overall. Didn’t try desert. Seemed pointless with amazing gelato available everywhere. (Frankly we were not ready for further disappointment.) I was sorry we didn’t just stick with an already tried and true dinner spot as we really wanted a good farewell meal and this was not it. Very nice and friendly staff, good wine, and pretty decor. Cute out of the way location. Pretty expensive overall, also,...
Read moreWe had a lovely lady serving us but unfortunately the food let them down. It was rather average food but the disappointment came when we were served the sausage for our final course we found the centre was undercooked. We let the wait staff know and they took it away. We asked for the bill, to which the waiter asked me to tap my card without informing me of the total amount or showing me a receipt. I asked to see the receipt, and asked for the sausage to be taken off the bill (22 euro) because I had informed him it was undercooked. They refused, and after a couple minutes of back and fourth, to which they said ‘that’s how it’s meant to be cooked’, i decided it was not worth the argument. Anyway, we paid 151 euro for two g&t a, one glass of red wine, and three plates of poorly seasoned, badly...
