Definitely AVOID this place as this was probably the worst service ever I’ve experienced so far in Italy. For anyone who doesn’t want to read the following long paragraph- the restaurant was so empty even at a busy hour (7.00pm-7.45pm) on Sunday. You can judge how well as it could be.
Having read in your previous Google comments I totally agree with what others have posted for its poor service. The owner mentioned that customer didn’t say hello when they arrived, trying to provide an excuse for their poor service. In fact, I have greeted the waitress standing at the front of the entrance, saying a ‘hello’ to try to get my reservation. She immediately turned her head and walked away not even a smile or greeting. Probably she hates people saying a hello with her. Please don’t try to provide an excuse again saying that you guys are not robot. I’m sure this is not a right way to provide service in a restaurant in any of the countries as you mentioned in your comments.
We ordered a salad, risotto and a spaghetti with black cuttlefish. Not even provided a vinegar until we asked- again never happen in any of the Italian restaurants as we travelled from Florence, Milan and other restaurants in Venice. And not even provided you a SPOON to have the risotto until we asked. The waiter (the one without wearing glasses) seemed so annoyed when I asked him for a spoon and he immediately responded very rude with a few Italian words whilst he was walking away. Ok, I’m so sorry for asking a spoon for a risotto and you might expect me to have it with a knife. Again, I’m so sorry for asking a vinegar for the salad without any dressing as it should be.
In response to the owner mentioning about ‘respect requires respect’ and judging someone for their culture, could I kindly ask if this is a respectful manner to respond to your customer in the language they obviously don’t understand in an annoying tone? And what’s your problem now in getting a spoon for your customer to have a risotto???? We payed full respect to your staff since we arrived- greeting your staffs even without a respond and saying thank you for every dish and drinks when they served us, and never say any rude words or language to your staffs. I still dont get why we deserved such a bad attitude.
Regarding to their food quality, it was alright but very poor quality for its vinegar. It was definitely not worth visiting in regards to their poor and disrespectful service. I can assure that this restaurant is totally overrated as a tourist trap.
A great thank you for a waiter wearing glasses as you are the only one providing a very good service to us- Thank you for making our unpleasant dining a bit comfortable.
You are right at a tourist spot targeting at tourist business and you seemed to not reflect on your disrespectful services. You post comments judging about someone’s culture- others can judge how disrespectful and unprofessional you are as the owner. No wonder why you staffs are also rude to the customers. You can still provide a lot of excuse regarding your poor service in this review as what you are usually doing. And I’m not going to waste my time to respond your excuses as this restaurant was not even worth for it.
A restaurant’s reputation could easily spread by world of mouth. By seeing how ‘busy’ your restaurant was during a Sunday evening with loads of empty table at 7.00pm- 7.45pm compared to most of the restaurants at St Marco, a lot of tourists are definitely...
Read moreExtremely bad service experienced. When we walked in two waiter are right at the counter but made us on the step without looking whilst chatting and laughing. No one gave the menu and when we asked for the menu people avoided eye contact or quickly turned away : when we politely asked to order twice they continued on with their day.
Edit: Oh wow an actual response! I’m surprised to see you respond so quickly with such long paragraphs Nicolette seeing given all the things you talk about! I would’ve been perfectly happy if you had responded with the same rate before.
to address your response, I’m not sure what you are insinuating about my culture but I come from an equally respectful place and from what I can tell in Italy, it is the same here.It is strange that you call of respect yet you seem to show none and assume where I had come from and who I am , going through the responses it seems that you spend hours doing so to others.
We are perfectly respectful of people who respect our time and theirs: if you had taken a little bit more care in reading our response you would see that we had waited patiently. You demonstrate a strong English mastery and the ability to defend yourself, so it was surprising that we did not hear of such in the restaurant. In fact, we would’ve been perfectly happy if you had responded with “give us a second”, or “please wait”. We had initially assumed it was because English was your second language, but now seeing your mini- thesis on every response, that’s not the case.in fact, please read through our response again and outline what I had said about waiting: I’ll mark you out of five points.
The ratings are great and I’m sure it’s hats off to the chief : I’m sure they make some splendid food and people really enjoy it .Was a shame we didn’t get any and never will. Yet I feel sorry for them to work under someone who is able to play victim in all circumstance and also had the time to type this out during opening hours. You talk about respect yet demonstrate none for my responses, my culture and my identity. To shorten my responses to something you can understand:
Is it disrespectful to continually stress someone on about work? Yes, and that’s not what we did.
Is it disrespectful to stand in front of someone for five minutes whilst waiting to ask if there are seats when they are relaxing , and waiting another long period between each time we asked for the menu, asked to order and asked to order again, when we would’ve most definitely been at addressed on what’s happening at other restaurants when we sat down or stood in front of the counter even when it gets busy? I don’t think it is , especially if there is no communication at all from your side. You can disagree.
We can respectfully disagree Nicolette or Nicoletta but I assume you won’t take it: I hope you structure your response properly and follow the TEEL structure. If it’s too stressful to talk during opening hours you can always open the option of online chatting which you seem to excel at xx.
Hope your restaurant will continue to run great and your staff is...
Read moreIf your into being treated like a dog being handed their food then this is the place for you….Would actually love to give this place a better rating as the food we had was delicious, but the service here was the worst I have ever experienced, spending our last night in Venice in this restaurant almost ruined our entire trip, to be treated like that by a waiter was shocking, almost every time he passed us he would shout something to another member of staff about us, obviously thinking we couldn’t understand Italian and probably thought we were ‘stupid tourists’ pointing at us and getting aggressive when speaking about us, and it was not only us, throughout our meal two different tables got up and left mid meal due to lack of service and being treated with disrespect, I watched a waitress slam one table into the one next to it without even acknowledging the couple sitting there having dinner, and then when confronted by another member of staff replied with ‘so what it’s nearly closing time’…. While my partner really enjoyed her food and said it was the nicest fried seafood she had ever had but was just too full to finish it, was then treated with pure rudeness at the thought of not eating anymore..then it came to the tip, after already feeling like they do not deserve a tip we tried to give a tip using card(which you cannot do in most of Venice) and again the waiter was just physically disgusted at the amount that we planned on tipping, for this reason we decided to give nothing and that is what they deserved, a tip is not just an added amount on a bill it should be earned by the staff. Honestly the food here was nice but if you want the same if not higher quality and to actually be treated with some respect there are plenty of other restaurants close by with even cheaper prices, nicer food and at least a...
